well it depends really... here my nuker

lv22 1601 kills, my highest dmg is 1973, my total dmg is 463850, contribution to party dmg is 64% (was a bit lazy in the end, earlier was close to 70%) and my party dmg over 50k! lol poor Ali (run on hard)

fun char to play even if probably i prefer another mage i have more focused on CC (but of course he have lower stats) just 33% of party dmg and highest nuke is 837

I stand in the middle of raging inferno's cackling madly as things die all around me... I'm sure that counts for something right?

gonna call BS on 1973 damage.

Unless you mod your stats off the possible charts, i dont see any skill, or combination of skills doing that amount of damage

Or even just a record of it in his character file, which there isnt, His highest damage is like 580 or something.

I have found a few ways to get around 700-800 damage, but to get more than that, i would think you would need to be cheating the stats

They key is Mana Clash + stacking Vulnerability Hexes.

If your contribution to party damage is very high all that means is you play badly and fail to optimise and then use your other characters. Unless your PC is the only DPS character in the party, that is.

Mages with high greatest damage pretty much can only get this against other mages with mana clash, it's kind of pointless to compare this number to anything since most enemies aren't, in fact, mages. The total damage figure is somewhat more interesting as it also factors out encounters with specifically weak enemies (you meet some very weak darkspawn in the endgame that boost any character's damage output) and takes AoE damage into account.

yep of course is a mana clash + double hexes... as my profile is stuck i can get a pic if you want...

the 837 is an entropic death combo, not that optimized actually, full optimized should be 1k+

and Danny is right, these numbers are more indicative about playstyle or the char used, even if is not hard to do crapload of dmg with a good nuker+hexes, with just 4 chars in a praty is kinda natural to have an high % of group dmg if using a nuker... consider that 1 slot is the tank, 1 is the healer, 1 your nuker char and you have just 1 slot left... for that party i chose Leliana for boxes, ranged dmg (i was heavy on cones) and because i like her :P if i had morry as a second nuker for sure i had a less % of dmg

about mana clash is situational at best but it instapop orange mana users, that are some of the hardest guys in the game, not to say the situations with multiple mages/emissaries... so yep you are going to do that only on other mages but is overall a pretty usefull spell

Leliana can do awesome damage. I guess most people don't bother with traps, bombs and poisoned daggers since you don't really need more damage in this game.
I haven't found myself in a situation yet where I would have needed a pure healer.  Wynne can do a boatload of damage after you invest three or four spell points.

I love Mana Clash, there is nothing quite as satisfying as instapopping the very foes that make every battle twice as hard just by being present. It just doesn't make much sense to compare the damage you get from it to what you can do to any random enemy. What I'm trying to say is that it isn't useful because of the insane damage it can do but because it takes mages out of the equation; every other mage killer in the game doesn't do as much damage but still does its job of taking out the mages.

Check my profile...the 25th level mage.

I have 2048. An archer can get much higher theoretically...

yep when i play a mage i dont spend much time with traps and such as there is alredy enought CC/dmg to not need them, for Leliana generally i use her as support with buff song, pet, and ranged dmg/debuff with archery

for mana clash i dont agree that much... is it true that there are other good spells to deal with mages... as cc or glyph of neut or even ali power... but they tend to generally less effective...  glyph of neut/or mana absorption limit their casting but not their magic attack (that can still be dangerous) and orange mages are not that easy to mez and they dont stay mezzed for much time anyway...

to do an example my almost 2k nuke was on Gaxkang at lv17 (if i remember right) and it almost instapopped him, no other anti mage spell have the same effectifeness with such high enemies actually trivializing some of the toughtest fights in the game

of course is not the only way to deal with mages... my fav mage char for example have not mana clash and had not the spell in my group... CC and other stuff worked pretty well vs mages but you can see quite a big differences in the mage fight from a party with mana clash and one whitout it

ahhh btw i uploaded the ingame screen of my nuker with various data... is in my album, only problem is that i cant link the pic as i get a javascript error when i try to view it :(

btw2 my profile updated and it seem i had even an higher nuke of 2652 Posted Image

this is a so e-peen topic

I know my character doesn't pwn very much. He is a team player.

Full Spirit Specializaton Spells (why did they remove the bonus for master one spec)
Full Glyph and Grease lines from creation
General Mage Line
+ Group Heal at the very end.

Nah. That only means you're playing on easy or normal with no or little friendly fire. Either way; bragging rights revoked!

well i do that.

except i use forcefield.

cast inferno on myself, then force field

everyone attacks me and dies lol

yea my party damage contribution in the beginning was 95 but near the deep roads there were a ton of melee people and i couldn't do damage because i was an AoE dude, so i was forced to heal :(

i admit zilod, that is some pretty high damage, though i got 800 something yesterday
