I do wonder if Shepard is going to have to bite the dust at the end (note to any one that has read spoilers do not say if this happens or not!!!)

Emotion hinges on execution. Sadest moment for me was the father daughter chat on ilum. So I think this is a rather silly discussion

Its generally hard to make me cry, but not impossible. My Dad was always big on boys not crying. That hypocrite cries during a good song. I've taken to the opinion that Crying is a totally natural output when you experience grief.

I'm completely secure in my identity as a man, crying has its place.

All of that said, I'd have to be invested in the character that was dying, and the death would have to be meaningful. If that were to happen, and it were handled extremely well, I might shed some tears.

The only thing that got me in recent memory was the Dead Island trailer, and that didn't even really make me cry. (My own daughter was all too easy to think of during that damn trailer.)

you know what would make me sad? Remember the movie I Am Legend (The WIll Smith one) where he has to put down his dog because it caught the vampyric virus? If Ash got indoctrinated and the only way I could resolve it was a bullet to the brain I would actually cry. Easily my favorite female character.

That would be sad.... if it wasn't Ash.   **** called me a traitor.   After that giving her the Ol' Yeller treatment isn't going to break me up inside.

fine. If [insert your favorite character] gets indoctrinated and you have to kill them either via suffocation (as Smith did in the movie) or a bullet to the head (like what happened to Lenny in Of Mice and Men)

PS: if you haven't watched I Am Legend (the Will Smith version) go rent it. pretty great movie especially if you read the book.

The thing is Ill be playing ME3 untill the wee hours when it hits my doormat, meaning ill certainly get sleep deprived. And at moments like that, I tend to feel my eyes getting moist at the weirdest moments (I shed some tears at the end of Best of the Best, when Dae Han Park begged Tommy Lee for forgiveness and offered him to replace Tommy's brother Dae Han killed)

I play femshep and I fear the moment my bro and LI Garrus is captured, huskafied and with the last bit of sanity, Garrus asks Sheperd to end him..... :crying:

You know, this is going to be one hell of a fight. We are fighting a determined and goal oriented enemy who absolutely will not quit. We are going to lose billions across the galaxy. That means we are going to lose friends. There is not even a guarantee that Shepard will survive this conflict.

On a real battlefield there are no guarantees. Despite your best efforts, the best training, and the highest skill, anyone on that ground could die at any moment. I believe that there should be no guarantees in ME3. Bad luck may finish off your LI. It might mean that you lose your favorite squad member. Will we have to pen that letter that informs a loved one of what transpired in the heat of battle and the loss that resulted from it? I don't know, but having done death notifications in the real world, that would bring a tear to my eye.

Will we see civilians lying dead in the street? Will we see schools blown open with the little bodies still inside? Will we watch as entire cities are laid to waste? Will we see the haunted expressions of the refugees as they stream from some forgotten town or city where decent people once lived carrying everything that they own with them? Will we see the dead laying by the side of the road as a stream of silent people walk by us like ghosts? Will we witness a child trying to awaken her dead mother, not realizing why she won't get up? Will we be forced to call down fire on the innocent in order to win a battle? Will we have to do that to a friend or our LI?

There is much to weep for in war. How much and what specifically will be in ME3 to make one cry is anybody's guess, but we have been promised tears and BioWare is quite capable of honoring that promise.

I'm not a great benchmark for this topic, as a good score can make me cry if I'm in the right mood. Also, I consider crying cleansing. A good release.

Still, I don't usually fall for emotional manipulation, and get cross when the swell in the music is trying to make me cry...

So, to that end, the things that would crush me would be: death of Garrus (partic with indoctrination and choice-to-mercifully-end therein), death of Wrex (although after the sobbing, I would be okay with it, as he is a warrior), and oh, dear gods, death of Anderson. I'd say he's marked as the rebel leader, but still. I heart that old man.

That tali dialogue was pretty sad, a little cheesy at parts but pretty sad. I've never cried during a video game so I hope ME3 is first for that, I have read that the game actually feels very sad so hopefully it's a very emotional experience.

Shepard and/or either VS dying would simply kill me inside. I care about all of them so, so much.

I actually have to agree, and I was surprised to feel that way about a character in a family movie.

Then again, I already admitted I'm a big sap. ;)

Ok.. Shepard goes into the suicide mission, battered but not broken! Taking Garrus and Liara, they head down to take out Harbinger and TIM. After a long a bloody battle, Garrus sacrificing himself so that Shepard and Liara could go on. As Shepard confronts TIM, TIM shoots Liara who was caught off guard. Shepard, holding a dying Liara in his hands, eyes watering as her last breath leaves her body. He turns his full attention toward TIM, enraged. "YOU KILLID LIARA!! YOU B******!!!! TIM then engages Shepard in a long conversation on how what he was doing, what Cerberus was doing was for the best all along, and that Shepard almost ruined everything. TIM, with a ghastly smile, reveals that the Reapers, all along were.... *xbox freezes*

The only time I have truly and legit cried was in Halo: Combat Evolved when the woman who flies the pelican the whole time dies dropping the warthog. She was loyal to the end, sacrificing herself for me instead of flying away. She payed the ultimate price for me. Why couldn't she have lived and we could have both gone to earth! Why!!??!! She was there for everything and every time I needed her. Sorry what was the question?

I think if something emotional gripping happened, and Shepard was at his/her wits ends and started to cry...then I'd start to cry. Well not cry, but be sad and stuff.

As you can probably tell, if anything happens to Liara, I will has a sad. A serious sad. A monumental sad. Outside of my Shepard, Liara is a significant part of why I love the ME series so much. She is such a special character, to have her die or something bad happen to her... means I would die a little inside. :crying:

Most of us have really become attached with the Mass Effect universe and their inhabitents and wish to see a happy ending for all of them. But the thing is: there is a war coming and we are in for the thick of it. People will die. Even those close to you. Hypotheticly (please, no spoilers if you read the script) , what would make you shed (manly) tears?

For me, I shamelessly copy-paste a post I saw on reddit, which made my eyes a little watery. :crying:

Well just one of the characters dying, and like showing it in a way. Like Tali gets shot with a shot gun in the stomach. Shepard is holding her and applying medi-gel over and over stopping before she goes into a comma but nothing can save her because not only is her stomach ripped open but the exo-suit is damaged so bacteria is effecting her. There is a little speech about how she doesn't regret anything and she says she wants to see the sun with her own eyes and shep pulls off her mask and you see her face. Her face is of course every talimancers dream but they don't care because tears are rolling down there cheeks.

If your shep romanced Tali then the hard exterior that is usually shep fades away as tears start to come down his face. Male shep's voice actor does his best acting ever as you can hear his voice cracking up. "Tali no, no, don't leave me. I-I can't imagine this world without you, your kind soul. I was going to build you the house on your home planet like your dad promised, I thought we had time! We could've adopted a kid. Tali, honey don't leave me." Tali's shaking hand reaches to her other hand as she tries to pull the glove off but she's so weak, she's slipping. Shep reaches to her hand and rips the suit at the hand showing her little hand as it reaches up and very lightly lays on sheps cheek as she smiles. "Oh my (whatever the quarian word for love is), shh shh, we'll see each other again. Now go save the universe my soldier, that's a order Commander." Tali says as both of them have tears on their face.

Shep leans down and kisses her as she slowly slips off to death. Shep stands whipping tears from his face as he runs his hand over her face closing her eyes as it shows her face once more with a smile on her face. Shep picks her limp body up in his arms as he walks through a crap storm of bullets flying past his head as Garrus and Vega cover you as you walk to the shuttle not caring of the bullets flying past his head. As they make it to the shuttle and it flies back to the normandy it shows Shep sitting on the bench in the shuttle alone with his head hung over his lovers body in his arms.

yea something like that might make me shed a tear...

So whats your greatest fear?

Jesus that is the cheesiest fan-fic I've ever read.

Here's my scenario - During a main plot point battle, in the middle of the chaos, your LI gets shot in the head and dies. Like straight away. And while the chaos goes on around him, all Shep can do is stare at his LI's dead open eyes in silence. Then maybe a rocket explodes next to him and he gets knocked unconcious.

That would be pretty jarring. Or maybe we go the Tony Almeida route and witness our LI get shot, but not die, then we get blown up and when we wake up no one will tell us what happened to the LI until we see the body through glass in the next room of the med-bay.

None of these long-winded death speeches and such between LI's. If anything, people like Hackett or Anderson deserve some bad-ass speech before they go out in a blaze of glory.

I might be stunned if there is a good, believable twist. But I cannot see myself crying. Renegade Shep does not cry.
He doesn't cry.

HE DOESN'T CRY! :crying:
