Most favorite: Garrus. He's an almost perfect example of the 'sensible renegade'. Following his dialogue in ME 1 and further on ontio ME 2 shows you that he clearly falls into the renegade mindset, what with having no problems killing innocents to take out a bigger enemy and putting the squeeze onto helpless prisoners, but at the same time he's not a blood-crazed psycho. He also demonstrates a very nice neutrality as far as humans are concerned. Not once does he comment on the Alliance or on the nature of humans. It makes a nice counter-point to all the characters who insist that all turians are evil and plotting against humans (Udina) or people who flat-out don't trust turians because they're not humans (Ashley).
Least favorite: This is a very tough one. I'll say that I couldn't hate any of the characters, because they all had a memorable impact on me and I doubt I'll ever forget any of them, but if I had to be pressed to choose one, I'd pick Grunt. I understand why the writers presented him as they did; they wanted to show us what a young krogan is like, untested and raring to make a name for himself (as a counter to Wrex, the old krogan who had already made a name for himself and had nothing to prove to anyone), but nearly all of his violent moments felt artificial and childishly destructive. Maybe that was the point, him being young and all, but here was a character totally lacking in subtlety. I had a hard time getting behind that.

When did Garrus ever hurt any innocent?
