Things like "who becomes King?" become large issues in a continuing story. You have to choose between establishing a canon that the player did not necessarily choose, or ignore the situation completely and never mention the King of Ferelden again. Basically, you end up painting yourself into a corner.
I think they have an understanding of the issue. However, the question is whether they will choose to "fix" it by implementing some other method of game-to-game choice carryover (picking from a list on character creation perhaps), go an entirely different route by ignoring almost all of the choices except one or two major ones (DA2's Big Choice, and Anders's fate), start the succeeding games in a fresh location/time where import choices would be moot (perhaps with a new choice implementation philosophy in place), or (hopefully not) continue in the same vein as DA2 where there is a risk of bugs with save imports or additional retconning of NPCs to fit the story.
When it comes to the novels, I have no problem reading about a set canon for the world. I don't really feel that it affects me at all in my enjoyment of my game. However, Asunder was the first non-game material released since DAO, which took place after the events of DAO and DA2, in a time period where our own characters have changed the world with their choices. Because of the nature of the plot, it was very easy to be vague about specific details in DA2. It will be interesting to see how things are done in the comic and any further novels he might write.

Yes, I care so much about being right I'll necro a thread.
Expanding on that plot would give Kirkwall a lot more character even in retrospect. If a Forgotten One was truly bound under Kirkwall and the Tevinters were using all sorts of blood magic witchery on it I'd say that is indeed a hook very important to the setting. If one has already become unbound then that would be very significant to the DA world, especially for those interested in elven lore and history.
I'm going to be honest here. Leaving that hook and never following up on it would be a huge waste of potential and an even bigger disservice to the series. Gaider can't just change his mind that Kirkwall wasn't built for a specific purpose when it clearly stated in the codex that it was.

Oh but he can. And it wouldn't be the first time. Bioware are the masters of the dangling plot thread. Some of us are still waiting for something to be done regarding the Morrigan-Eluvian mirror hook. And lets not forget the "change is coming to the world" hints that Flemeth, Sandal and Morrigan have mentioned.Blacklash93 wrote...

Then There's the Idol. So much was made about its frightening power. Last we saw of it in DA2, it had consumed Merideth then simply perched itself on the ground in Kirkwall.
And the line that Lelianna delivers at the end of DA2, about how Hawke and the Warden both disappearing is no coincidence. (yeah, lets just leave that obvious hint of a greater conspiracy alone and move on to something else)
Sometimes leaving huge issues unresolved can be cool, as it leaves you wanting more. But when you do that kind of stuff all the time, with just about everything, It starts to look like bad, lazy writing. And People eventually stop caring about any new plot hooks you introduce because they know that they'll probably lead nowhere. In DA2 we discovered a Primevel Thaig, and got some rather interesting lore about it suggesting that it's some sort of big deal that could, itself change everything we know about Thedas history. Has anything come of that since? Nope. And I for once can't get myself to care much about it anymore.

For this one it looks like they're going to just... drop it.

we could even imagine the saved game generator reading an actual save and asking you to validate before creating the save for the new game.
I am a bit tired right now, so could you possible explain what you meant in more details?
sorry about the delay mate
basically the saved game generator should be able to read a saved game. and then display the result so that you can confgirm or change.
this is on top of being able to create a save game from scratch of course.

I checked the DA2 codex and it does indeed say the "Forgotten Ones". Check for yourself if you have any doubts.
I can resolve this.
Blacklash93 is correct about The Enigma of Kirkwall referring to the Forgotten Ones. It's in the game, I checked myself.
It's the Forbidden Knowledge codex that refers to the Forbidden Ones, and names various powerful demons. It's written by Tarohne, who picked up the Fell Grimoire mentioned in The Enigma of Kirkwall.
Either way, I strongly doubt Enigma means the Dalish Forgotten Ones, if even that term was intended and not simply an error--which, in light of context between the two codices, I believe it is.

Nah... It is cool. And I agree with it. It would be a nice addition.

With the amount of import bugs that aren't going to be addressed I honestley wouldn't mind.Dave of Canada wrote...
Adding the ability to simply change your playthrough kind of makes the choices redundant, it would be adding variations in future games for the sake of nothing as everybody wouldn't really need to play the previous game.
