Why?

I found the PC controls much better.

I started on the 360 version but found PC a lot more fluent, especially with the powers assigned to number keys

I don't know about that - for me control pads suck really hard, but carpal tunnel syndrome, eye strain/migraines and back/hip pain suck harder.

It might be nice for people to move away from their normal posture/distance and use a control pad/joystick once in a while, and if you own a control pad, why not? I sometimes wish I could stand to use one for this reason.

Heck, some strange individuals might even prefer control pads to the keyboard and mouse - there's no accounting for such lunacy, but each to their own.:)

I tried playing ME2 on the PC, but I could not use the keyboard/mouse setup. I'm not much of a gamer otherwise, though, so I probably just needed to get used to it. But it was a big learning curve that I was willing to invest in. When I got a 360 for Christmas I jumped back in to Mass Effect. If I could have used the game pad on the PC I would have stuck with it.

Don't worry, I expect someone really cool will come along any minute and do a "prefer?! Prove they are better objectively!" post. Those are cool.

If they do, I hope it's not automatic detection to enable support like in other games and is instead something we enable in the options menu. I use my controller and Xpadder to mimic WSAD and some other functions on my controller and my mouse takes care of the dozen other hotkeys I need. It's how I currently play ME2.

The PC version does not support controllers. They may or may not work, but they are unsupported by the game.

Bummer for those who want controller support, but my control scheme survives! And that's all that matters to me.

I hate PC controls. They aren't made for games. Keyboards are for typing. But, anyways, to each their own as everyone has said.

Wut?

EVERY port these days supports at the very least the 360 pad.  Too busy designing dlc pre-order guns?  Poor form, Bioware.  Really poor form.  Seriously, small European studios manage to implement this yet an EA backed "AAA" studio and critically acclaimed studio can't even bother to do this?  Lazy, lazy, lazy.

You want to play with a controller? Play on console.

Xbox for me was way more fluent, and way easier on the hands/wrists.

Double wut?  I forgot PCs have never, ever, ever had controller support.  Besides, I swore off consoles after my 360 rrod.  I can't go back to sub-hd graphics or looooong loading times.

Come on Bioware, you put in some gimmicky Kinect controls and you can't add in 360 controller support for the PC version?  Unbelievably lazy.

Carpal tunnel does suck. I prefer to use xbox controller on pc but I also prefer the enhanced graphics. Why can't I have my cake and eat it too?

Because in this case, you'd be eating two cakes.
And Bioware doesn't want you getting fat.

272 games that support controllers, many of which are indie releases with budgets a fraction of the size of a Bioware game.  Lazy, lazy, lazy.

Go make your own game and have controller support, then ****** to it and be happy then.

You have a caretaker, don't you?

That's some weak trolling, man. How hard is it to implement this when even small indie games are able to do so?
