I don't think it was because of laziness. BioWare clearly had something in mind... Whatever that is.Thoth_Amon wrote...

That's some weak trolling, man. How hard is it to implement this when even small indie games are able to do so?
Please include 360 controller support on PC version

Why? So many multiplatform games support them yet Bioware who is suppose to be this enormous company does not.

But seriously, slightly disappointed by this. It's not a deal breaker by any means (personally, I like KB + Mouse unless I'm playing a driving game), but most other AAA games I can think of offer controller support.

I hope that, at least, the keys in the menus and combat are consistent. They weren't in ME2 and I was forced to use mouse and keyboard.

You should learn what it is, unless ya know. You're too lazy, lazy, lazy. No excuse. Whatsoever.

I never thought I'd be in a position to defend Bioware considering what they've become, but in this instance I support their decision fully. PC games that were designed with the 360 controller usually have horrible UI for PC users like myself that prefer the precision and superior button mapping abilities of the mouse and keyboard. The Witcher 2 and Skyrim are the two most egregious offenders. Learn to use mouse and keyboard for shooting games, it really is better.
Your point is moot because the PC version of ME2 only added a quickbar and none of the other benefits of a kb/m control scheme. This isn't a competitive shooter nor is it twitch based gameplay so both options would be nice. If you think Bioware put extra effort into the PC UI, well then....

Well, it's definitely better, and while you can pretty much do the controller thing with third party software, it's legitimate to say that what people are calling "support" would make the experience a bit better.
I'm thinking of precision of aiming/movement at speed here, which is where control pads can't usually match a keyboard and mouse for precision/speed without it.
It's not something I'd demand, as I've said I wish I could stand to use one because it would make my life more comfortable to kick back in an armchair to game, and TBH I'd want BioWare to be free to extend the PC version's interface as much as they want, over and above the console version - but it's a perfectly understandable thing for people to want imo.
I'd be asking for them to leave it as-is, but perhaps just add a toggle for some aim assist.

I found the PC controls much better.
I started on the 360 version but found PC a lot more fluent, especially with the powers assigned to number keys
I don't know about that - for me control pads suck really hard, but carpal tunnel syndrome, eye strain/migraines and back/hip pain suck harder.

Mass Effect plays better with a mouse because it is essentially a shooter. I can do a headshot with my mouse faster and more accurately than you can with your thumbs on some sticks. Also, mouse and keyboard players have access to all powers at once in both Mass Effect games via the number keys.If you want to gimp yourself by using an inferior controller you can try using Xpadder I guess, but I don't feel Bioware should waste time or resources implementing it when the 360 version is always available.
If the UI is specifically tailored to kb/m, I'll definitely be more than happy to use the "superior" control method. I seriously doubt it'd be a huge waste of time and resources when the games have been designed around a controller from the very beginning. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of sitting two feet in front of my 30" screen and like to kick back with third person games. Just seems like a silly oversight considering every single other AAA port natively supports the 360 controller.
To say the 360 version is always available if I want to use a controller is beyond ridiculous. I don't even own a 360 so why would I drop $350 just to play one game with my preferred tps control option? "Gimp" myself? Come on man... I know you feel big and bad boasting about your headshots but it doesn't mean squat when you're running up against the braindead AI of these games.
Oh well, it's a dead topic anyways. Let's just hope they managed to figure out how to bind the Journal, Inventory, Codex and Options screens to keys this time around.

Now, for games like Skyrim and Batman AC, I loved the seamless controller support. Batman, especially, plays better with a controller.

This is good to hear, I am actually quite surprised myself that Bioware have chosen to stick to their guns on this. I just wish this news was on the back of Bioware making proper use of the PC's unique native control scheme.
However from developer information about there being no hotkeys for things like the Journal/Codex I get the feeling we are going to have another half arsed PC control scheme in ME 3 just like we had in ME 2.

I got my beastly gaming laptop hooked up to my 55 inch in the living room.
With that setup:
Controller = sitting back all lazy-like in my sofa and playing comfortably.
KB/mouse combo = leaning forward and neck strain.

ME2's lead gameplay dev, Christina Norman:
Balancing for pc vs console is incredibly difficult, we do our best (enemies are tougher on pc than on xbox) but pc will always offer more precise controls, and better sequencing of attacks.
If you like controllers go get yourself a console, OR re-map keys using the software that came with your controller.

I'm ok with the keyboard/mouse setup but the main reason I use a controller in Bethesda games (and Alpha Protocol) is analog movement. You can't achieve this with a basic remap, there has to be built-in support for it to work.Shepard the Leper wrote...
