I know what I mean, the question is do you. Condemnation comes in many flavors and levels, this isn't a "cancelling my preorder" deal, this is that on this particular issue I think they made the wrong descion regarding the casting of a single person, especially on the grounds that she's a "fan" and that she has about as much experience being in front of a camera as most "vloggers" on YouTube. There's a difference between an unknown, a newcomer and Chobot, an unknown usually has SOMETHING on their resume where they aren't "playing" themselves, Chobot does not.bboynexus wrote...

I'm not condemning her for her performance, I'm condemning Bioware for hiring someone with literally no acting experience whatsoever because she's purdy.Twulfster wrote...
Here's a thought. Wait until we actually play the game and hear her voice acting before condemning her to the fires of the interwebs? Anyone?
Do you have any idea what you mean by 'condemn'?
How rigid are you people?
I'll resasses when the game launches but until then, yes I condemn Bioware on this one aspect.

Am I the only one here who had no clue who Chobot was until this announcement video today?
I won't jump to conclusions, but unless you've been under a rock (gamign community-wise) both inside and outside of the ME IP, I would venture to say that Jessica Chobot should be at least a 75% household name in the gaming community as a whole. She's been a gaming poster girl for quite some time.
Eh that's probably it, I consider myself a gamer but I don't really watch any of those gaming coverage shows

I find myself combing through every second of this video for the brief glimpses of Fem Sheps hair. Lookin' good.
Wasn't it one fo the hairstyles available in ME2? Looks pretty much the same to me (not that it's bad or anything).
It's an old hairstyle yeah but the new hair tech shown is much more hair-like and a lot less plastic looking. It's similar looking to how Dragon Age 2 handled hair, so I'm hoping it also bobs and sways to some degree as it did in that game.

Oh wow her character model looks terrible.
And I totally buy Alliance personnel wearing that.
Totally.
My bad. I guess she's a reporter.
So, wait, why would a reporter be wearing that? And why the hell would she salute?
Maybe her character is supposed to be kind of a bimbo. Maybe she's comdey relief. I'd dig that.

Well for starters, all of the "important characters" are not in this video, so unfair comparison.
I never said you were evil, I am just saying like some others here, you are judging her unfairly.
When you first started doing whatever it is you do (I am assuming you are good at it) were you initially as good as you've probably become? were you at least competent? I am sure you were if you are still in that line of work. Point is, people have to start somewhere, but if it was up to folks like you, no one would ever get their first shot at it.
Again, way to judge harshly. (no offense, I am saying that in the most mildest manner btw)
In a way, you're helping my case. There are tons of important characters we haven't seen yet, somehow she takes precedence over established folks like Keener and Meer. I also beg to differ on the fact I am judging her unfairly. I said:
1) She has no VA experience. True statement.
2) She may be good or she may be bad. True statement.
As for me, I had a degree when I started my career and I guarantee it was harder for me to get my foot in the door than it was for her. Additionally, I started at the lowest rung on the ladder, not in a position of prominence. Judging by how forward placed she is compared to the rest of the cast, her character has to at least possess a moderate level of importance. I have no problem with her getting into VO work. I take issue with her 'promotion' over people who have put in work to earn their spots.
But steadfastly giving her the benefit of the doubt is just as unfair as assuming she'll be terrible. For the record, I'm doing neither.
As I've said (time and time again) I am willing to give her a shot. But a do harbor reservations about anyone this green being given an important role in a game this anticipated.

And you are assuming they hired her on that pretense. the fail part is that you actually believe you know why they hired her.
And your fail part is accepting everything blindly and not questioning some very questionable decisions Bioware has made with this game.
You assuming someone who's famous for licking a PSP is worthy of a spot next to award winning actors is hilarious.

Vega and Chobot's character look like they came off straight from Jersey Shore. Terrible designs.
It's this again... and you make me think there's a legion of trolling nanobots within the confines of Bioware's servers repeatedly making the Jersey Shore comparison daily.
Maybe it's repeated constantly because...check this out... are you ready? Because it's true.
Is it also repeated constantly to serve your own self-gratification? I'm pretty sure when Vega's character was designed, the thought behind was not "jersey shore".

Well, if she's covering a war then I'm not sure if the long dresses that Emily Wong and reporter what's her name we punch in the face for two games would be appropriate. That said if she is following along and giving updateds on the war as a embedded reporter of sorts I hope she at least puts on a flak jacket of some sort.

Actually, yeah the hair textures do look better! It's really noticeable at 3:19. I'm hoping for some simple physics too, but I won't be too disappointed if there isn't any.

To be fair, she did not start in a position of prominence. She built a career through a niche platform, and now is using that platform to make a lateral shift into acting. This is exactly what sports celebrity actors do. Or martial art actors. This has been standard practice in media since forever. In fact, it is the only way to get nonfiction published these days -- you must have an existing platform to build off (fiction you can still enter as a nobody).
The issue I have is that it has always seemed like this was Chobot's goal from day one -- leverage the niche market of gamer female to get into acting from the side door. And this is why I never felt that her gamer schtick was genuine, even if it actually was.

Alliance news network reporter. I assume that's why she has a Alliance logo. The Alliance is more than just military.
