Jessica knows her stuff. Definitely not the "Kim Kardashian of videogames" as I recently heard someone say.

If there is any gamer girl in the industry that has earned her cred, its Jessica. She is a pure gamer. It is absolutely clear who does and don't know who she is in this thread. She is clearly a gamer. When someone can talk about the details of the games they play and their experience with it that "fakers" would normally not know or do, then they qualify for respect as a gamer.

Wow!... Some of the people in this thread...  <_<

I like the video but that image of Jessica is scaring the crap out of me. I think it's the lighting.

Yeah, the lighting and angle gives of an eery snookie vibe.

Wow, she now really gives promise for that character.

Yeah, I can't wait to see her and the Krogan and that scientist, you know the alien one from 2 have long in depth coversations about things and such.

Otherwise, the bsn is really complaining about a voice for a character ? That sounds dumb and weird. Do they need to be all actors or stars ?

Weird? Believe me when I tell you that that is a minor thing compared to... a lot of other stuff around here.

Great trailer and looking forward to more.

Sgt Stryker wrote...That's ridiculous. Anyone who thinks they are "banging" someone just because their RPG protagonist can do the same to a digital representation of that person is probably a little funny in the head.

You seriously doubt things like these? You must be new here. You've clearly never been to the character discussion forums, people literally fall in love with video game characters and since this Chobot now has a digital persona the same thing will happen with her only this time it's on screen and not in their minds.

Atakuma wrote...Oh please, it's not like bioware refused to let them be in the video. It's far more likely that they just couldn't be there for whatever reason.

Oh please remove your head from the sand, you can't honestly be that ignorant.
From a PR point of view why put these faceless voice actors in a PROMOTIONAL trailer designed to attract our attention and the attention of new fans. Why couldn't they possibly be there when most of the scenes are recorded while they're in the studio WORKING.
Why even dismiss my claim when they don't even bother contacting Michael Beattie for Mordin Solus and they just recast him despite Beattie enjoying and wanting to carry on the character.
I wouldn't place all of my trust in Bioware at the moment, not when they're having to dance to EA's tune.

It doesn't really fall that flat though. Admirals, scientists, etc. aren't social jobs. You don't stand in front of a camera or a crowd with a mic as an Admiral/scientist/whatever else.

She may not have experience, but her job transitions well for her character while most other don't...at all.

And if they'd cast a print reporter in the role?

Doing a job is no guarantee of being able to act at that same thing. Despite some of the things being slung around about her, I don't believe her current job qualifies as acting. She may give a darned fine performance, but because she's a reporter it doesn't mean she's as ready to pretend for the role as a skilled and experienced voice actor is.

I think : incoming bewilderment over the fact that Chris believes that TIM is in all 3 games is more likely.

Is it just me or does the illusive man have GREEN and normal-looking eyes in this trailer? A change from the blue / technological eyes in Mass Effect 2?

Has he overcome indoctrination or simply bought new contact lenses?

Mmmm, I noticed that too. Curious.

I think he means, out of all the chars in the trilogy, TIM ranks as his favourite; not that he's in all 3
Except that her "reporting" only ever requres she acts peppy, or uninterested. An actual reporter has to have a range of emotions and unless they're pulling another Michael Dorn here and she'll literally be in the game for about 5 minutes, there's a very good chance that she'll have more than enough lines to need to be able to portraya human realistically. She's not playing a reporter, she's playing a person that just happen to report. Any Joe Schmoe can get on camera and parrot out news bites, but to then play as something more than that, isn't easy.
Look, don't make this harder than it is. She talks for a living, most of the time in front of a camera or crowds. Guess what Voice Acting is? TALKING.

It transitions much better than any other 'regular' job out there. It's not as if they took some random person off the street for the role. That was my point. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yup - let that settle it.  Plus they would never let someone act if they weren't actually good for the role.  Hell, guys, look at Tricia Helfer; she had barely any acting experience prior to landing her role on BSG.

Nothing against Jessica, but if they wanted a reporter on the Normandy, why didn't they bring back Emily Wong? It would have been great to see her again, and in a larger role.

And "Admiral" Anderson? I hope we get a line or two of dialogue explaining why he isn't on the Council anymore. Not everyone chose Udina, after all.

Oh, I have a 3 year old cousin who can talk, does that mean she can act?

Acting is much more than just "talking" and to imply otherwise is an offense to any actual actors or actresses, it's an art. Singing isn't "just" talking, drawing isn't just "moving your hand" it's the fine details of the craft the ascend it beyond what it is on it's base levels.

AGAIN, I'm not saying she's qualified.

Voice Acting = Talking into a mic, at it's most basic description.

Guess what Chobot does for a living? That's right, she TALKS INTO A MIC.

I'm not saying she's going to be good. I'm not saying she's going to be bad. All I'm saying is that her current job transitions to voice acting alot better than mine or yours or Joe-Smo off the street's.
