Here's what we know:
- Diana Allers is a reporter that can be brought on the Normandy. She is a war asset (+5 to Miltary Strength while she's aboard)
- She is voiced and modeled after Jessica Chobot
- She is an LI available for both genders.
- You can kick her off the ship if you so choose.
Background:
Diana Allers is from Milgrom, Bekenstein and considers herself a "colony kid". She works on the Alliance News Network's "Battlespace". As a war correspondent she is to be assigned to a ship during the war. She wants that ship to be the Normandy. She can be found on Deck 24 (the Normandy's dock and the first area on the Citadel). Once recruited she can be found in the Starboard Cargo Bay (Zaeed's old room).
Interaction:
For the majority of the game interaction is "click-for-reply" style as opposed to full dialogue. If you click on her more than once or twice during this she'll ask if everything's ok at which point you can kick her off. Diana will also request interviews after crucial turning points. The first is after curing the genophage on Tuchanka, the second is after the Citadel coup and the third is after the quarian-geth conflict resolution. The first interview is in the cargo hold. The others are in Shepard's cabin after she requests an invitation. The third one inexplicably cuts to black as she's still asking questions. Don't know why.
Romance:
You can complete the romance after the second interview provided you don't cut her off. She will comment that if you keep feeding her info like this she will follow you home. You can continue flirting and eventually they kiss and cut to black. Note: If you're already locked in a romance, the romance with Diana will not show up and the conversation will end past the first flirting response.
Frequently Asked Questions (and best responses so far):
Why is she here (instead of Emily Wong or Al Jilani)?
Allers is with the Alliance and is likely better trained and equipped for military life and wartime conditions. Wong and Al Jilani on the other hand are civilians on the Citadel. It is thought that they would not be able to handle the stress and rigors of being on a ship during combat.
Why is she aboard the Normandy as opposed to a Command Center like other correspondents in RL?
Diana Allers' assignment is specifically reporting from aboard a ship. She specifically wants to be assigned to the Normandy. Also while there may very well be other reporters in such positions, Allers may be on the Normandy for the specific purpose of showing Shepard himself in action in order to provide reassurance and hope to the galaxy that their champion is fighting the good fight (and hopefully winning). Alternatively Alliance Brass may have an interest in having a reporter on the Normandy as an alternate means of keeping tabs on Shepard. This is particularly fitting especially after the events of ME2 where he apparently joined a percieved enemy (Cerberus) and was responsible for the destruction of the Alpha Relay. While a military spy would be able to provide better intel to Alliance Brass (especially if Shepard was not aware of their existance), Allers may also be an attempt at transparency to potential allies.
Administrative Stuff:
Obviously same as every other thread, try and stay on target, no trolling/spamming/hating. If you dislike Diana or Jessica this isn't the place for you. If you see disruptive behaviour do not engage, that just makes it worse. Report to mods.
