Maybe she works for the Alliance but ISN'T military. She just happens to sporting a dress/tank top (depending on the photo you look at) that has a Alliance logo on it.

Edit:  As for the salute, who knows?  Maybe she's just being respectful.  Miranda salutes Shep prior to the SM in ME2 and they're not technically military.  Maybe she's being playful and it's a flirting scene shown in that image.  Lots of possibilities.  We'll find out in March

I'm a guy that has no knowledge in ladies workout attaire but it just looks like execercise attaire to me. It isn't but it was the first thought that came to my mind.

I assumed it was a tank top with maybe some bdu's or regular pants of
some sort. But this plasticy dress that's way too tight witht the
alliance logo to boot is too much for me to believe. I don't even know
why the alliance logo would be on a dress that isn't a military formal
dress. This is kind of tacky now that I'm looking at it.

Apparently she is an Alliance sanctioned news reporter, I think, hence the logo. I'd be totally OK with a pair of pants, a tank top, that served more or less as an undershirt and a jacket/vest like most war correspondents you get to see, but this is fairly impractical and unprofessional, yes.

The only pic I saw before this was the one with her up against the wall of photos and notes. Still, no country would allow emblems from their military bodies to be on clothes they didn't approve, so that means that the human government had to ok that dress. It's not a dress uniform of any kind and its not "casual" attire that they could wear at camp so why would they ok that? Honestly, its a leather dress with the military's logo, it makes no sense. Also kind of impractical for anyone in a war zone to be wearing a dress, talk about being accident prone. If she's wearing heels too, then it'll be too funny to take seriously.

It could be a jumpsuit of some sort.  Maybe the attire has legs and the inner thigh part is black and with her legs mostly together gives the appearence of a skirt.  Again, who knows until the game comes eithr.

Either way, I eager to hear Jess as a VA and to see what her character has in store for ME3.

What is the alliance logo used for if not for official capacity like identifying its personnel? Looks like a dress to me. As a jump suit, I can't really see it and if it is its not doing its function by exposing so much skin. The point of a jumpsuit is to protect you body from something else your wearing. (Bomb suit, armor, flight gear, etc)

Does anyone have a link to the video? Any of it with this character in motion?

You're in an uncomfortable place, its extremely dangerous, tensions are high, you're doing a dangerous job with your life on the line and you decide to wear a pretty dress. Does that not clash with the environment being built around the character? That's what makes it a bad choice it isn't coherent with what they've set up before hand.

Nope its a dress  I looked at it, either way I don't have a problem with it if she changes it in the field. Eh even then it would be more funny than annoying.

My argument wasn't for the dress in the field it was for body armor in the field. The **** that Shepard gets up to kind of makes that a bit mandatory. War reporters wear vests in warzones it isn't unheard of and that is what I would want. Hell at least give her some Kinetic barriers and I'd be okay.

Even the dress on the ship seems impractical. No one wears a dress for comfort, let alone when you're fearing for your life. As for me, I'd like it if she had something like a press vest that has the word PRESS on the back. The whole point of it is so they have a greater chance of surviving, same reasons medics wear a similar vest.
