The hallmark of the BSN. Just ignore them, it is funny because just imagine what it would look like if these people were held to the same scrutiny. Then again they probably are which is why they are doing the same.

Truer words were never spoken, both by PMC and Deltaboy. Take away the fame and PSP licking and Jess is just one of us. And I guarantee each of us say stupider sh!t then that every day on the Internet. She just has a bigger audience.
But anyway keep in mind this is supposed to be Diana appreciation and discussion. Not Chobot bashing. Granted we don't have a lot to go on. But just cool it. Or in the famous words of AdmiralCheez "Calm yo ******".

PS Cheez, I would be ecstatic if Egoraptor was on the Normandy. Sure when the novelty wears off I might worry about immersion and all that but first playthrough? AWESOME EFFECT *SCHWING*  (he should really make that btw)

Also OP will be updated with the new info (Vertigo strikes again. Say they should really base Diana's keen sense for news on you.:P)

Oh  No it has not gotten that bad.. It has not crossed the internet  forum black hole  event  horizon yet... but its  getting close.

It kinda reminds me of all the Vega bashing and stuff an then a video on him was released and a lot of people like him now. Also I am reading all your posts in Yahtzees voice because of your avatar and watching a lot of him lately.

I can't say for sure because I haven't played the game, but I can only assume that the IGN Reporter is playing herself, since the character A) Looks like her B) Dresses like her C) Has the same profession, and D) Probably has her personality as well.

And if some theories out here are right about corporate back rubbing between ME3 and IGN, it makes perfect sense that she'd play herself. Jessica is markettable. People know her as Jessica. They don't know her as an amazing actress. They know her as a very attractive host with a sexy personality that is the face of IGN.

Considering ME3's budget, it would make sense that a bargain was struck between both companies. The only real way to know is just how much publicity IGN gives ME3, and if the game's reviews tanks everywhere else BUT IGN.

Olivia Wilde substituted for Olivia Munn, Tara Strong substituted for Tara LONG, what the hell is going on in this thread? Does this whole forum have me on ignore? Come on. Tara Strong is a voice actress.  Tara would have made more sense to me than Jessica, though. As Tara Strong is ridiculously talented, actually experienced in VO work,  easier on the eyes, and has fake breasts to better accomodate the group supposedly being targeted with this maneuver.

Look, folks. I'm really, really hoping Chobot does a good job. If Diana's a great character, then I can take all my pre-release angst and toss it away.

But like Ash and her armor, until I have proof, I will angst.

I avoid most geek press because it's horrifically stupid.  RE: VGAs.

If I read her commentary from a humorous angle, I guess she's pretty cool.  But I don't like how everything she said is "I" and "me" with not one peep about "Diana" or "my character."  That makes me worried that she isn't playing a character at all, but herself.  Which is bad.

EDIT: Roflspelling.

Quite. Almost as bad as those shows from the 70s and 80s that would sometimes feature "guest stars" who would play themselves. You know a show has jumped the shark when they have to resort to that!

Same boat.

I find the idea behind the characters role very interesting - been a supporter of the reporter on the Normandy since I first heard it.

Don't know if Chobot can VA - but if she can - awesome!

I'm on the same boat as you.

Its just fun to sit down and analyze Bioware's decisions from a marketing point of view. I work in the entertainment industry, so I enjoy debating and listening to people's opinions and POVs that differ from my own.

Well we possibly have the option to boot her off the normandy and be done with her, so even if she's a terrible character that is horribly voice acted (not saying she will be, just saying very worse case scenerio) we won't have to worry about it

Tomorrows news: GT and GS staff also in the game!

Seriously, it's not the fact that she is not an actress, or is stupid, or both. Its the fact that IGN will review the game, which it co-creates, and the ammount of this cooperation does not matter.

I really wish that ME3 will speak for itself. Bio should use marketing (?) tricks like this to DA series.

Holy crap. They're two separate people.

No, trust me, that is just how she is. I am sure she put the serious hat on when doing her character. Remember too that its been over a year since she voiced the character, I am sure she is out of character by now.

Well, I think that no woman who gets a job on the project such as that can be THAT stupid, like talking about her virtual butt and ******. I also assume that "Jersey Shore" is not popular among non-barbaric cultures.

But intelligent or not, a video game reporter starring in a video game which will be reviewed by her medium is unethical.

Two things.

ONE: I totally HATE/Loathe Jersey Shore. If they lock everybody from that show all in a room and blow it up, I probably could care less, I
wouldn't give a Krogans left set. (Yes that includes the cast of that show, supporting cast, staff, writers and camera men as well, hell even throw in the cook who fed those ******* everyday).

I said that to say, that I wish as most do that Chobot would have omitted that statement. Anyone for that matter who says or references Jersey Shore to any work that they do loses cool points automatically. It's just automatic.

TWO: Jessica is not a writer for IGN, in fact she has nothing to do with it. Truth is she works not only for IGN, but G4, attack of the show and so on. She is not even gonna be a factor in anyone's review. It would be unethical, which is why you can count on it not being the case. IGN has already wrote a disclaimer and their review hasn't even surfaced yet.

So I hear everything you say. I defend Chobot too as I have followed her career basically as a gamer, but she did not help with that damn Jersey Shore statement. thanks Jess! <_< :P

Didn't they give another internet celebrity a dlc and a web series centered around DA? seems like this is a trend that they are building.

No. But her personality, likeness, appearance, or any other related materials maybe, by contract with IGN (Possibly even G4), a percentage of whatever profit she earns by using her 'name' if you will - belongs to those companies. THey launched her. She does, essentially, belong to them until a certain allotted time.

Because when you think of Jessica, you don't think 'Oh! That independent lady who publishes her own images for her own profit!'

You remember as attached to those shows and that programming. They own her image until she stops working for them (breaching contract, etc.).

Its how people get their bills paid.

So I can't say for sure whether or not it might be a little backrubbing between studios, but its something to think about.

Yeah, it's fun.  As for my opinion, I still can't shake the feeling that this was a bad call.  Like those "sexy" comments in the art book, it makes me wonder how dumb they think we are.  But, like the EDI thing, they might take a bad idea and turn it into something awesome.  We'll see.

Well, my anger is bounded then. At the moment I have Cheez's view on the case then.
