I dunno. So far all the support NPCs have contributed to the game in one way or the other, be it ambiance or allusions.

She kind of stands out. I mean. First questioned I asked was '...Why is snooki in my game?'

And then I heard other people say 'OH! Its that one hot chick from IGN!'

which doesn't add anything. Really.

Well we don't know what she'll do. But what you're saying though is you'll go ahead a form an opinion, even a preliminary one because the physical appearace stands out?

Nope. Never suggested I was that shallow.

I'm forming an opinion because her physical appearance specifically stands out since Diana's physical, professional, and possibly even emotional character is modelled after the person who voices her.

Jessica might as well be in the game. Who needs a render?

That's what stands out. And that's what's a little weird to me. SOunds like enough stuff to make an opinion on, right? Why her? Why not Summer Glau? Or any number of interesting actresses that would make more sense for them to be in this world?

My POV is different than yours. You seem to approve the decision. You like Jessica. You knew who she was. That's cool.

I didn't. I think its a weird decision. I care nothing for this lady. So my opinion is equally as valid as yours. Its just on an opposite spectrum, and there is value to listening to both.

That's why I'm bringing it up here. Because I'm curious what other people's reactions are.

So a guy is a little more muscly, and a lady is a bit more endowed...

Ok, I see your points.

BUT! bioware usually has good backgrounds for their characters so it's predictable that Bioware fans silly to judge based on appearances.

She might not need to personally be in the field. She may have a robotic gizmo that follows Shepard. Kind of like the Mk II in MGS4.
I like Yakko's ideas. I should look more into embedded journalism. She does have the potential to be an interesting character.

I think its a great idea. A reporter recording Shepard's story so that the Alliance and Council can finally pull their heads out of their asses? Sounds good to me.

Plus, I'd rather have a character that looks unique (and makes sense for her role in the story) than a character that just wears [generic female NPC outfit 14].

And she obviously doesn't have to follow SR2 protocol clothing wise. Its not like she's a combatant.

There was never a "screw you" in there.  I was just trying to figure out what the hell kind of angle BW was going for.

But seriously, you have no idea how hard it is to tell fart jokes when you're the only girl in the room.

Besides, her breasts aren't even that big. They look like they're the same size as femShep's breasts.

People just don't like her because she's not wearing a sweater.

But she's emebedded in the military. Meaning she has some rules she has to follow. She can't just do or wear what ever she feels like because she's not in the military. The fact that she's non combat person and with the military it means they're responsible for her and she has to stay within the guidelines they lay out for her otherwise she wouldn't get a spot on the ship. That's how it works in the real world and I can not imagine Hacket or Anderson giving her the go-ahead to wear that dress on the Normandy.

It was an exaggeration of course not your particular reaction at all.

Also just so you know I don't care if your a girl or a guy. If you scratch your ass crack in pubilc then sniff that is gross. I met some girls who would tell some jokes like that. To me it can be equally bad or equally funny though.

But due to how our culture is, it is somehow more allowed for men to be more disgusting. I actually think that is a bit more offensive to men in that way lol.

Point taken. I don't know the lady, but I give her respect points for that.

And BSN is no different than any other forum. Though, there are more women, and it is a nice breath of fresh air to see a strong S/S community. You definitely see more opinions clash, but that's refreshing to me. I think these discussions are healthy.

I'm not sure. Playing yourself doesn't mean you are there in your entirety.  And it's not necessarily something to be sneered at either. Look at Danny Trejo. Won't exactly be playing Hamlet anytime soon. But that man was the real deal (Mexican criminal) before he came to the screen. Now he plays mexican criminals in films. Is it the height of the dramatic arts? No. Is it believable and fun to watch? Sure.

Also I don't think you can assume Diana and Jessica are the same professionally. Jessica talks video games on the internet. Diana is supposed to be qualified to go into warzones, keep her wits about her, survive and still get a scoop. Not at all similar. Besides Jess is loosely an "anchor" type journalist while Diana is in the field. Does not align (at least not perfectly).

And obviously we know nothing of what Diana is like emotionally.

Here's what we know:

  • She is an LI (hopefully with a full romance arc w/end scene and not just half stripping like Kelly)
  • You can kick her off the ship if you so chose.

In that order? Good to know. :wizard:

No BSN can be more annoying than a few other forums I visit. I won't say its the worse but I wouldn't say its just like anyother forum in level of sanity.

Soldiers also shouldn't be running around wearing thigh high heeled boots (MIranda / Samara).

Suspension of belief. Until Bioware hires more female writers and designers, and these discussions can create more appropriate wear (ALA Deus Ex, Skyrim, Uncharted, etc.)

I don't know. Most other gaming Forums I've gone to aren't very welcoming to me because they cater to a very specific demograph.

Skyrim doesn't have really entirely appropriate or practical wear for all the outfits. Even the steelplate armor has the boob plate which is rather freaking annoying.

Samara I can deal with since it isn't unlikely Justicars wear those outfits its just annoying when they are on the collector and Reaper ship but Miranda makes less sense due to character reasons.

I agree, but since ME2 wasn't under Alliance jurisdiction it can't be as scrutinized as in this situation. In order for a journalist to go to a warzone they have to petition the government and the state department and theres a multitude of paperwork, contracts and agreements. Things they can and can't do, say and can't say, wear and not wear, go and not go etc. Who would honestly say, yeah, its ok to wear that dress with a tv company logo. Embedded reports can't do that. Richard Engel can't wear an NBC shirt while reporting from Syria, because technically he isn't under the umbrella of NBC but the umbrella of the government and the U.S. State Department. Its the agreement he makes so he can have the opportunity to go to those places.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say with that second comment.

She plays a reporter. And she herself is a reporter. She also dresses exactly like her character (Minus the Alliance logo). Its not a big jump. We will have to see if her reactions to craaazy ****e happening is believable or even feels in place.

I just question why an inexperienced actress/VA person is here in the first place.

It just feels... weird. And I've already gone through the list five hundred times WHY it feels weird.

Of all the other VAs, all the other characters, everyone else who is some how affiliated with actual talent, be it professional voice acting or acting, be it some connection to the sci fi world (EDI) or noted otherwise, she's very obscure.

Its like... If they made the new Star Trek sequel, with a speaking role by Kim Kardashian because she's affiliated with hollywood.

It just doesn't make sense.

and yet Shepard can be rebuilt like the 6 million dollar man after making planet  fall... not even Comics go that far in breaking the Deader the Dead rule.  Though you make a good point.

Then again is could  used for a Crowning moment of Awesome as well... case and point... Queen  Hippolyta in a Wonder Woman arc  I was reading  was fighting  Sea Monsters in  Pajama's and  bear foot... beat back the first wave...  next wave shows up... and what does she say to one of the Amazons..

"Go get my boots..."

Bioware don't get that if you going to go with the "rule  of cool " you have invoke the "Bad ass Crazy Awesome"  if you don't you come off  just chessy and not in a good pizza kinda of way.

Edit: note Samara  may get a pass because did take said heel and use it break that mercs neck

It's fanservice Jelly. It's business. Damn smart business at that, so many of the pervs in the IGN comment section will be playing the **** out of this game now.
