I think you see what I'm getting at here. It's one interview. Let's wait and see before stamping an equal sign and moving on.

Hey, all I did was give you my first impression.  I WANT her to do a good job, and I WANT Diana Allers to be a cool character.  I'll give her a fair shot come ME3.  But that doesn't mean I don't have... concerns.

Well, its clear that Diana Allers was made specifically as a fanservice character.

And I am not the fan who wants to be serviced by her.

So I shall step away from this support thread, unless this woman wows me with something other than her shocking likeness to her own VA or how tight her dress is in the middle of battle field.

<3

ps. I miss Emily Wong.

There are a lot of crazy people who don't know how to adequately express their anger. Some just want to vent.

There are just as many crazy people who are INSANELY protective of Bioware's decisions, without ever questioning anything and will jump off a cliff for them if need be.

Its a company. It makes mistakes.

BSN is tame compared to stuff I've seen. It has a more vocal community because the mods try to harvest that.

We will see how things work out once the game comes out. So far I'm pleased that Bioware listens (Liara's Model's breast reduction, S/S romance option in ME3, etc.). But we shall see.

Two things:

One: thank you for not devloving and getting all defensive. I state my opinions just like other people and they attack me by saying I am attacking them. It's weird.

Two: I totally agree with you. BSN is (weirdly enough) better than some other places I've been forum wise. Also, yes there are also the "BioWare does no wrong group".

Neither are good.

All told, I am with you, I have some gripes as well, but its all about the way you go about it.

(My main thing is that people hide behind the "complaining/venting" excuse. People really wanna be [insert word here] because they are bitter about something or another. Total fail. That's all I am saying.

But...But... What about Emily Wong?

First I was all, Weee reporter on the Normandy! Then I was all, Oh, they switched Emily's VA to Jessica Chobot. Sure, okay, she's cool. Then my brain finally processed that Diana Allers is not in fact Emily Wong.

Siiigh.

So that makes it okay ... how? She was fortunate to get a role on ME3. Good for her.

I'm not bashing, hence why I put it in quotes.  We're all just wondering WHY she got the role.  What's the angle?  Just pure fanservice?

We have not seen this character in-game, shouldn't we wait until we have seen the finished product before we start to critique her performance? She might surprise you.

Ask yourself, would Ashley really have ever gotten armor if we never made a stink about it?

I understand that some people require armor, big bulky armor even, to enjoy their game. I saw the debates how "Ashley is a soldier ... give her armor!" was flung around and I'm glad to see that the armor crowd were placated.

If you are wondering why the character is in the game, why a reporter is needed on the Normandy ... we will know in-game. Or are you saying that you do not want a reporter on the Normandy, or that the character must be in armor, s/s relationship?

If you are asking why she, the person, got the job ... ask Bioware. Does it bother you that this gal got a role in ME3? Are you afraid that this is a Sofia Coppola in Godfather PT III? As far as putting her in the game as fanservice ... probably. So was Martin Sheen, Carrie-Anne Moss, Seth Green, etc.

Isn't this basically a product placement? I'm amazed people think this is a good idea. they dumped an old character and replaced her with a celebrity.

I don't think Emily has been dumped, but Chobot's role (Yes Chobot, because as pointed out, she always talks about her self, not her character) is a very different one to Emily Wongs.

Also - the idea behind the role of a reported on the Normandy I think is awesome, it will just wait to be seen if she can bring any depth to the character - particulary when reporting on horrible losses and millions of deaths across the Galaxy.

If we're not watching it thinking "Alliance DailyFix" with a whole listing of "Jess Marry me", "Jess your dun so purty" beneath it - then awesome! Brilliant! I'm all for it.

But we haven't seen enough to make a call either way yet .Fingers crossed.

I'm pretty sure you're just hating.

No, if I were hating on her, it'd go like this:

OMG WHO IS THIS UGLY BEEYOTCH
IS SHE SOME IGN BIMBO OMG BIOWARE IS SO STUPID
SHE LOOKS LIKE SNOOKIE AND JESSICA CHOBOT IS A TALENTLESS HACK
I AM NOT LETTING HER ON MY SHIP!!!1!!!1exclamationpoint!!11!oneoneone

Seriously, all I want is for her to do a really good job.  If she does, then her role is more than justified (hell, I'll probably like her).  If she doesn't, then I am REALLY going to wonder what the hell Bioware was thinking when they cast her.

Your English often confuses me, so I apologize if I appear defensive.

Its okay -  i  think faster then I type  a lot of the times which lead to typoes and missing words.

Just know more often than not I'm closer to yours and Cheez  positon on things.

I'm trying to avoid as much "Jessica Chobot doesn't deserve to have a role in this game because she's not special and this is MY game series" whining as possible, but I will say...

If they wanted to make a fanservice character, I would've used Naomi Kyle.

Fair enough. I see where those concerns are coming from.  Well, one month to go. We'll see what happens.

I'm just toying with you. But I must admit I got a rather negative first impression of the character.

Yep, you either love BioWare and their games unconditionally, or you're a hater/troll. Get with the times. Constructive criticism is so 2011.

Unless it's Dragon Age 2. Then it's the complete opposite. ;)

But yeah. All of this "counter-bashing" of people not feeling the character/character-design? Get over it. Seriously, the people whining about the whining are more annoying. <_<

Why not actually hire a professional voice actress instead of a pretty face? Ughh. I better leave. To me this is so pathetic, Bioware.

Unless we were told that Emily Wong was a war reporter I doubt this is dumping a character. Hell Al' Jilani got more attention then Emily Wong did in ME2.

Screw you your counter-anti-whiner-whiner.

But I was seriously though. If people want to complain about the design, let them. They're not hurting anyone. It'll be one thing if multiple threads b*tching about the subject and man-dog-giraffe spams are psoted, but it's being contained in this thread and the one in the general discussion.

As did I, but I'm a political junkie so that show was designed for me. What I'm getting at is Martin Sheen and Jennifer Hale have way more in their resume than just one thing. This person just have a website which gamers fawn over. How did you think people would react? My main concern is the character design, I visually can't respect her as a journalist, she seems too impractical.

Do you really wonder? It's quite obvious why she was hired. She's the nerdgasm of IGN readers, the fact that she is in the game and you can do her is just going to attract an enormous crowd.

I've seen this often in this thread. How is she so popular that people generalize gamers or male gamers as people who will fawn over? I love Olivia Munn mostly because of the hilarity she brought to Attack of the Show but I haven't heard much at all about Jessica Chobot.
