There was more to it than that, but I'm soooo glad you don't even bother trying to get the concept.PMC65 wrote...
I understand that some people require armor, big bulky armor even, to enjoy their game. I saw the debates how "Ashley is a soldier ... give her armor!" was flung around and I'm glad to see that the armor crowd were placated.
Of COURSE the game will tell us why she's there! Having the press on the Normandy could make for an interesting angle, even. But it will be incredibly obvious if this character was just forced in, even if she's a salarian dalatrass or whatever. If you are wondering why the character is in the game, why a reporter is needed on the Normandy ... we will know in-game. Or are you saying that you do not want a reporter on the Normandy, or that the character must be in armor, s/s relationship?
Martin Sheen, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Seth Green are all actors that auditioned for the roles. I'm bothered because they not only gave this character the face and voice of an IGN reporter, but made her a love interest, and so far I don't have enough reason or evidence to think she's anything MORE than (very) creepy fanservice and possibly some weird sort of corporate circlejerk. If you are asking why she, the person, got the job ... ask Bioware. Does it bother you that this gal got a role in ME3? Are you afraid that this is a Sofia Coppola in Godfather PT III? As far as putting her in the game as fanservice ... probably. So was Martin Sheen, Carrie-Anne Moss, Seth Green, etc.
Seriously, how would you feel if the last installment in a major gaming title let you have sex with the Angry Video Game Nerd?
At least Yvonne played a CHARACTER in the game. If Diana is a CHARACTER and NOT a thinly-veiled excuse to sneak in a semi-celebrity, she'll be fine. But right now, I get the sneaking suspicion that she's like that obnoxious guest star who only joined the show to bump up ratings. I really want ME3 to prove me wrong here--if Chobot can be a successful voice actor, she can ditch the stupid IGN gig and make it on her own.
