I'm still a lot confused here.I came to this thread to find out, what (if it was ever stated!) Diana actually does!
Several pages later of Chobot talk, I'm still none the wiser!
I have two theories:
1. She's an Intelligence Agent.
To me, those pictures in the background look like surveillance photos. If this is the case, she goes in before the team, gets intel on the location, maps of the buildings, number of hostiles, weapons in play and so on, then relays that information back to the assault squad to plan the attack.
2. She's the "unanounced" character
www.masseffect.com/me3/game/collectors/There's something in there about a "additional downloadable mission and character (click on the picture from above link).
About the armor issue, did they ever change the game mechanic from ME2 back to ME1, regarding off duty and on duty?
In ME1, they wore whatever armor you gave them in the field, but on the ship, they wore whatever was considered "casual attire", depending on who they were.
In ME2, with the exception of Shepherd (only!), everyone wore the same thing on the ship as off it.
Personally, I'm hoping Diana is a full squadmate.
Vega isn't really moving me and I'm concerned that Ashley's remake will make her look kindof innappropriate during battle sequences (she used to wear the heaviest armor and now she's wearing light armor???).
So an alternative to use in my squad would be really welcome.
Disclaimer:
I am actually a hardcore Ashley fan, but (from my point of view), what comes back in ME3 isn't what we had in ME1.
