This is BSN. It happens every time Bioware introduces any new character into a series.

Yeah. Sh!t, you should've seen the reaction that (the now popular) Jack got when she was first introduced.

Yeah, the thing with trolls is they don’t care if they’re in the minority. They bash and hate simply because they find it fun and if you give them attention, they’ll do it even more. I’m pretty sure they know most people don’t agree with their views, which is why they are considered trolls.

I don’t care enough about the issue, tbh. I know blondes aren’t dumb because they are blond. That is good enough for me. I am pretty sure most people know that blondes aren’t dumb just because they are blond. The only ones who don’t are trolls and idiots and why would I want to engage them?

I guess I don’t see comparing Diana Allers to Snooki is that insulting because I don’t see Diana Allers as a real person. She is an inanimate object. That is my view on it anyway. Discuss it? Sure. Debate on it? Sure. To get mad and insult others because they have a joke at her expense or have an opinion about it? Don't see the need.

I wonder, if (it has been done, but for sake of argument) someone were saying horrible things about James Vega and comparing him to someone on Jersey Shore, would you staunchly defend him? Would you make an effort draw the trolls in and make them see the error of their ways? Honestly, I wonder how much of this raging defense of Diana Allers would matter if she weren’t portrayed by an attractive female.

Jack still isn't "popular." For the record her trailer is waht got me to give ME2 a chance, and her trailer was exactly what I wanted her to be so I wa content with her from then til now.

My only concern with this character is that she looks ridiculous. Don't really care who's voicing her or why.

Exactly...stuff like this isn't a "hate crime"...its stuff people do to PURPOSELY get responses from "White Knight" people who make it their business to "Stand up for everyone and ensure total political correctness."

I don't give a rats ass about this character eaither way....idc what she looks like or what ppl say she looks like. All my rage about apperence was burnt out with Ashley Wiliams trying in vein to point out to the countless hordes of ppl who positivly LOVE her new "apperence" despite the fact it does not really suit her at all.

I just think publicity stunts like this. (cuz lets be honest thats all this is) is totaly meaningless and has no reason to exsist at all. Same thing with the Felica Day crap in DA...that too has no reason to exsist beyond pubicity stunts that in themselves only exsist because "HEY! LOOK! HOT WOMEN WHO PLAY OUR GAMES!"

Ok good she's not officially ground crew good to know. But I'm thinking she'll turn into an embedded reporter type why bother to introduce her otherwise? Looks wise she's uglier then Miranda and more annoying in the features then Kaiden which is hard to pull off perhapse I'll change my view when talking to her but that tactic didn't work for Kaiden soooo I'm not holding my breath it'll work here.

Just b/c it isn't a "hate" crime doesn't mean it can't hurt society as a whole, keeping stereotypes hurts society b/c then ppl start judging others based solely on a stereotypical view . . . like all blacks are criminals, all whites are evil, all asians are crazy, all Jews are greedy, etc, etc, even stereotypes like all blondes are dumb hurt society, if a blonde got a job or advanced in society, ppl will say she got there by being sexual to her bosses, not that she worked hard (unsexually) to get there . . . look at all the ppl saying Chobot only got the job b/c she's hot, how do you kno that, how do you kno that she doesn't work hard, that she isn't passionate about her job

i don't care about political correctness, i care about making sure ppl aren't douchebags to others based solely on biased, bigoted opinions

and its called marketing, its about drawing in new fans, not appeasing to old fans

There might be some people who are "nerd raging".

I don't think I've ever "Nerd Raged" on bioware yet. Though, based on appearances alone, Diana Allers is definitely a character I don't particularly care for. She feels cheap. She feels like she was tacked on as an afterthought, modelled and voiced after a chick Bioware thought a very, very specific crowd (Young white straight dudes who have enough time to actually browse the web and recognize this chick), while completely ignoring everyone else (This includes, but is not limited to, women and well... anyone who ISN'T a young white straight dude who happens to be a fan).

I'm not spouting any spoilers, but based on script leaks, she acts just as I would expect a character as poorly designed as her would act.

Its just tacky. That's not nerd raging. That's just pointing a fault out.

Yeah. Vega is a completely different beast. He is a strong, positive latino character with a beautiful, rich personality who is voiced by an experienced actor.

Diana Allers looks like she was popped on here by the design team behind Duke Nukem Forever, complete with a voice actress who looks just like her - who has no prior experience beyond 'I am a reporter for gaming sites'.

Like I said. It just feels tacky. But don't let my opinion rain down on your joy if you can't wait to jump her.

Is Ronnie dumb because he is big and muscular? Or if James Vega had Ronnie’s personality he’d be big and dumb? Either way, it’s insulting this Ronnie person, no? And what of those saying these horrible things about Vega and comparing him to Ronnie? I didn’t see you rush to Ronnie’s defense. I didn’t see you draw any of those people out and tell them to be ashamed of themselves. On the last page you agreed he did look close to him.  Honestly, I don’t care that you didn’t, or that they insulted James Vega.

It’s easy to want to be gallant and if you are, then great. Don’t point fingers at those who choose to ignore the ignorance instead of rushing forward, sword drawn and banner flying.

If you take offense at someone being ignorant on the internet and want to defend those being insulted--inanimate or otherwise--over every asinine thing, you’d better quit your day job and buy a cape and tights. You’ll be in it for the long run. I'd rather report it to a mod and not waste the effort.

This a revolting the jealousy and hatred of some people. I don't know who Chobot is but I give people the respect they deserve by assuming they had to work to get where they are. I think I am no better than they are and accord them respect/dignity as a fellow human being. People really think they can dictate how BW assigns minor part of an NPC in their game. Then they assert it will ruin the game and future BW ones. Ludicrous sense of entitlement mixed with drama queening at its finest.

1. People assume she has no talent. Have you seen her performance nope no one has. The fact BW hasn't cut it means to me that it is consistent with quality of such minor parts in their past games. Even if it isn't top notch it is just like any other game where some NPCs are better than others.

2. Personal attacks on people that are famous is pure jealousy. Have you attained greater status/success than them? If not then you have no expertise to exert authority on the situation. It is pure sour grapes. These crass comments about Chobot and Snooki (never seen the show but read a few stories about her) are ignorant. It is cyber bullying because people are anonymous. They are humans like every one of us and no one is perfect. Let he cast the first stone and all that.

3. BW is free to use whom they wish for whatever reason they wish. I happen to agree it may gain them some purchases from people that are Chobot fans. She seems nice and excited to be in ME. can that really be so bad? I bet every one of you wish you had her part and you could very well be much worse in acting and voice work and be unknown to boot.

It is sad how coarse and vulgar social online media has made people. Very few have manners, empathy, and decorum these days.

I don't know man. They refused to pay Beattie's rate (The original voice of Mordin), and instead put their money and energy into creating a character who - all intents and purposes - looks so indistinct and 'tacked on' with a famous name attached to it, for profit.

Now, I know profit is good and all. But when companies start working just for the dollar, it cheapens the overall product. This move is actually kind of predictable. Will it get them money? Sure.

But it might lose a lot of fans in the future who don't want to buy into that product.

Because shes not good at her job...no game "journalist" is good at their job. Those who ARE are fired for actually begin critical about a product. steryotypes are part of human nature...it will NEVER EVER go away. To think otherwise is only wishful thinking. it may be the "right" thing to do...but its a pointless uphill battle...no one in the history of time has ever changed someone elses opinion like that. The ppl you are argueing with is doing it ON PURPOSE! in order to get ppl like YOU to argue with them. If you ignore them...they stop talking about it and go away. Thats how Trolls work.

And honestly...do you ever see a ugly fat woman who was the hardest worker in the universe and THE most rabid fan of the franchise getting a job like this? Be honest with yourself here... can you REALLY see that happening? knowing the way humans are? Because I certanly don't...in an entertainment medium that is dominated by men...many of whom instently forgave Ashley because "OMG SHES HAWT NOW AND TOTALY DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A MAN SO I FORGIVE HER!" Do you really think the fact shes hot has NOTHING at ALL to do with this? It's simply business logic...same thing with Felica Day...thats why they made her an elf...because fans **** themselves at the sight of an elf for some stupid reason.

it may be an uphill battle, but that doesn't mean it can't be won, just look at US history and see how far we've come, from slavery to intolerance to being a much more accepting society, yes there a those out there who still hold onto that belief, but allowing it to happen sure isn't going to help the situation

just because she was hot doesn't mean she didn't work hard, there are more than one or two beautiful women out there and she had to compete with them to get where she is, also do you watch ESPN? Sports is hugely male-dominated entertainment and i do see "less-than-attractive" women as sideline reporters b/c they were passionate about their jobs

Ah, so you should only speak up if you post a lot and have been here a while. Otherwise, you’re quite allowed to ignore it. I can’t wrap my head around that pseudo logic and I won’t try. You had your own reasons for not standing up in that thread. I have my own reasons for not standing up for blondes or Diana Allers. It’s always nice to think about those things before jumping to conclusions.

Of course I don’t. I don’t watch that show. I don’t know anything about Snooki either besides what she looks like. It’s pretty hypocritical for it to be okay to compare James Vega to Ronnie,(for whatever reason you have) but condemn those who make a comparison between Snooki and Diana Allers(for whatever reason they have).

That's capitalism for you.

How do you know it is tacked on? It could have been conceived from the beginning to have a war correspondant on the Normandy.

Yeah it stinks when people are not brought back to reprise roles bgut it happens so much in movies and TV and games that as long as the substitute is of an adequate quality that doesn't detract from the product as a whole then I could really care less. Mordin was very entertaining character to me; part from the lines said (made by BW writers)and part the acting by Beattie.

They have to allocate resources where they see fit. They only have so much budget to work with since sales are not guaranteed. Many sequels fail to sell more than the original so EA decides what is what. It is a substantial risk to spend 30 million or more (I really have no idea how much ME3 costs and devs aren't saying) because a failed game means people lose their jobs and livelihood. I think they have a better understanding of where to allocate their scarce resources than I.
