FIX: Blood Dragon Armor - Female Elf
#1
Posté 23 novembre 2009 - 10:43
In order to apply the fix
1) Download the following file (NOTE: If you're using Internet Explorer it seems to rename the file extension to .zip. Please confirm that after downloading the file the extension is .dazip)
http://supportfiles....MO_ME_1.1.dazip
2) Navigate to the bin_ship directory of wherever you installed Dragon Age: Origins
3) Run daupdater.exe
4) Drag DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME_1.1.dazip into the daupater application and press the 'Installed Selected' button. (NOTE: Some people have reported the buttons within the daupdater application do not appear if they have certain windows themes applied)

update: well never mind it seems logging out and back into the game fixed the issue.

I, too have followed the instructions as listed above and, likewise, the blood armor has disappeared from the inventory.
For clarity - you corrected the corruption by simply removing the bonus armor from the game content? Seriously, this is obviously the wrong fix. Please provide an update to this issue.
update: I've checked my download content as well as the journal tab - both listed the blood armor as downloaded and enabled. However, not a single saved game nor the Camp vendor displays the armor. Where did the armor go? I've restarted the game, twice. Still no armor.

First, thank you for the fix!
However, I have a question. Well, it's more like a few questions, but they're all asking about the same thing. Anyway...
If one were to be using Internet Explorer, (which I am) and the file extension was renamed to .zip, (which it was) What exactly should I be doing about it and how? Dowload a different browser so I can have the file in the intended .dazip format? I assume I shouldn't try the fix with the renamed version or you wouldn't have mentioned it, right? Or is it not a big deal? It doesn't seem like a big deal, but I want to be sure.

When you download the file and the extension is renamed to .zip. You simply add in the "da" to correct the extension to .dazip. Then follow the installation process.
[simply rename the extension as if you were renaming a file, same process]
Hope this helps. Enjoy.

I managed to fix it by deleting the dao_prc_promo_me folder in the Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\AddIns directory, and removing the AddInItem element for the blood dragon armour from the AddIns.xml file in the Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings folder. I then reinstalled the broken DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME_1.0 armour which can be found here.
I then manually extracted the DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME_1.1 to a temp location using 7-Zip, and then I simply copied the extracted dao_prc_promo_me folder into the Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\AddIns directory, overwriting everything. Booted the game and the blood dragon armour was back, and the texture issue on my elven arcane warrior has been fixed.
PS. I just copied the dao_prc_promo_me folder, I didn't touch the manifest.xml file.

I did manage to get it back once after a half dozen restarts of the game, reloading saves does nothing, but it only appeared in the default location. This is useless as I just blew all my gold to buy the rest of the set which once again I can no longer afford. Not that it mattered since the next time I restarted the game it once again vanished. This is a sure way to ensure you will loose all your gold trying to buy the set back every single time.
sigh...

Several hours later, after reading the recent posts in this thread I decided to check my characters. Started the game, loaded all saves for all 6 characters (I have 2 saves for each character), each one had "lost" the Blood Dragon Armor chest piece from their inventory. I double-checked that the Blood Dragon DLC was enabled, both in the Journal - Downloadable Content tab and in the Downloadable content screen in the main menu. Everything showed that Blood Dragon Armor was enabled. Tried disabling Blood Dragon Armor, force loading a save, saving, re-enabling Blood Dragon Armor and reloading the save. Didn't work, although under the Journal - Downloadable Content tab Blood Dragon Armor was showing as enabled, the icon was missing, just a grey square! Tried re-installing the fix. Didn't work, but now under the Journal - Downloadable Content tab the Blood Dragon Armor icon was back. But still no Blood Dragon Armor chest piece. Tried running the game via the launcher and directly via the .exe, no difference. Blood Dragon Armor DLC is enabled, but the chest piece is still misiing from all 6 characters!
So it seems as if this fix, while it does actually fix the texture issue for female elf characters, causes some new issues, as in all the Blood Dragon Armor pieces will simply vanish from the inventory! Can we have a fix for the fix please!

The second you install the update... poof. So I suggest you try that. The only downside is if you actually purchased the rest of the armor you will need to buy it again. Which is insanely annoying when you are still low level and take hours to quest/kill your way to enough gold to buy the armor.
Honestly I'm now hunting around for way to modify my save game to give me my cash back.. I just don't know what else to do. Sticking to version 1.0 of the armor for now. Till the fix is fixed.

Just finished following the suggested "fix" posted by VariableEntity above, like you I just deleted the dao_prc_promo_me folder, removed the AddInItem element for the Blood Dragon Armour from the AddIns.xml file and re-installed Blood Dragon Armor v1.0 via daupdater.exe. Stopped at that point to check my save games, each one now has the Blood Dragon Armor chest piece back in their inventory!kuragamiECN wrote...
well from my experience deleting the dao_prc_promo_me folder as described above, removing the xml entry and re-installing the 1.0 version of the file will give you the armor every time.

I made a copy of the AddIns.xml file in the Documents\\\\\\\\BioWare\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\Settings folder before I edited it so I could compare the two versions afterwards. I have 8 DLC items (CE , Stone Prisoner, Blood Dragon Armor, Warden's Keep, Memory Band, Feral Wolf Charm, Dalish Promise Ring & Lucky Stone) and there is a notable difference between the 2 AddIns.xml files.
With Blood Dragon Armor v1.0 installed (and all my other DLC), the AddIns.xml file is 66kb, opening it in Notepad++ shows a total of 702 lines.
With Blood Dragon Armor v1.1 installed (and all my other DLC), the AddIns.xml file is 78kb, opening it in Notepad++ shows a total of 1663 lines.
For some reason, installing the fix for Blood Dragon Armor reformats the entire AddIns.xml file, splitting one line of code into 3 lines!
For now, I'm going to hold off re-installing this v1.1 fix until someone from BioWare explains what they've done and why, after installing this fix, many are reporting that their Blood Dragon Armor has vanished from their inventories!
@ kuragamiECN: you can modify your save game with the toolset, load your save game, expand "SAVEGAME_PARTYLIST" and look for the "SAVEGAME_MONEY" line. Edit the value to what you require. Save, exit and fire up the game to check your save game. Might want to make a backup of your save games first though, or make a fresh save to edit. If that's not to your liking, you could use the console, instructions on enabling it and what codes to use are easily found on the internet.

Although IMO BW should be concentrating on more pressing issues than fixing cosmetic stuff like blood draon armor

EDIT: In the event that it helps, I've installed the 1.01a patch (from the patch notes, I really didn't see a reason to install 1.01b so I was going to hold off until 1.02)
