I installed the fix and didn't de install anything.. it just updated my addin and my females can wear less bulky armor.

Although IMO BW should be concentrating on more pressing issues than fixing cosmetic stuff like blood draon armor

When I installed this fix I didn't un-install anything either. I just installed the fix using daupdater.exe. All worked fine at first, but after I saw the comments in this thread I went back and checked (some 5 hours or more after first installing the fix) and found all my characters had lost their Blood Dragon Armor pieces! Maybe you should check your save games after a few hours, just in case.

Note: I have not manually installed any other patches or fixes.  I have only installed this fix.

I loaded this fix and ran the game and everything looked and seemed fine.

But, after logging out from my first login after this fix, the armor has disappeared from subsequent logins and has not come back since.

I disabled and re-enabled the armor within the DLC "Installed" menu and the listing tells me my Blood Dragon Armor (BDA) is now unauthorized.  You have to uncheck and check the check mark next to BDA two times before it says BDA unauthorized.  The BDA will list as enabled when you first login in, but when you disable it and re-enable it 2 times it will list as unauthorized.  You can do the same to other DLC items and they don't turn unauthroized.   Once I figured out the BDA DLC had become unauthorized, this item has noticeably disappeared globally from all saves and all characters.

You call this a fix?

I went from having armor with a missing texture for my main character (but usable on supporting characters) to nothing.

What have you been doing all the weeks people have been complaining about this?

Seems like a last minute job. Should test these things before posting them, yes?

Also ran into the problem where the blood dragon armour disappeared from the game after installing the new version supplied above.

I managed to fix it by deleting the dao_prc_promo_me folder in the Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age\\\\AddIns directory, and removing the AddInItem element for the blood dragon armour from the AddIns.xml file in the Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age\\\\Settings folder. I then reinstalled the broken DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME_1.0 armour which can be found here.

I then manually extracted the DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME_1.1 to a temp location using 7-Zip, and then I simply copied the extracted dao_prc_promo_me folder into the Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age\\\\AddIns directory, overwriting everything. Booted the game and the blood dragon armour was back, and the texture issue on my elven arcane warrior has been fixed.

PS. I just copied the dao_prc_promo_me folder, I didn't touch the manifest.xml file.

Used your fix (made a lot of sense to me so I tried it), but now I have the Blood Dragon Armor showing up in Download Progress and in Installed Content were it is enabled. In Download Progress, it is not downloading and claims that I have the wrong game version. There is a red exclamation mark as well. Deleting Download Cache from the Configuration Tool didn't work. It's still there, and still, no BDA shows in game.

Any hints on that one?

I tried VariableEntity's fix as well, It's not working at all. Only thing I could do then was reinstalling the game and then redownloading the CE content....

How did you re-install the original BDA? From the in-game Downloadable Content or manually using the link that VariableEntity posted? Also, did you delete the entire BDA section in your Addins.xml file?

I followed the instructions posted by VariableEntity to just get the original BDA back. Don't really want to re-install this so-called fix until there's some official word from someone at BioWare!

Edit:
@Grizzly
Did it manually, and yes, I removed the complete section. XML Notepad makes it easy. (thanks for the link, btw, I totally forgot to install this one on my new PC)

I might have a guess on this one. Tried a lot because the save won't load - of course - unless BDA is installed. Re-installing is (as usual) my absolute final option. Not because I'm too lazy but having studied computer science teaches you that re-installing is one of the most overrated things in most cases.

I have a question for VariableEntity:

What entries are in your manifest.xml (the one in the settings order) ? I bet, mine is corrupted.

I think I have a fix. At least it worked for me. After updating the fix, I started the game. At first the armor had disappeared from my female elf and I kept restarting the game to see if it worked. Sometimes the armor would appear, sometimes not. Then I noticed something.

When I started the game, sometimes I was automatically logged out. I would load the saved game and the armor would be there, on my elf. When I loaded up a saved game logged in, the armor would be gone.

Strange, huh.

Sorry for the delayed response, made my previous post before I left for work this morning.

Ok, to sum up what I did:

1. Manually removed the entry for the blood dragon armor from the AddIns.xml file and deleted the dao_prc_promo_me folder
2. Reinstalled the v 1.0 blood dragon armor using the daupdater and the file linked in my previous post
3. Booted the game and confirmed that the armor was back on my characters, then closed the game again
4. Extracted the contents of the DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME_1.1.dazip file using 7-Zip
5. Manually copied the dao_prc_promo_me folder extracted in the process in step 4 into the AddIns directory, overwriting everything in the old v 1.0 folder. I didn't touch the daupdater again.
6. Booted the game and confirmed that the armor was still on all my characters, and that it had been fixed on my female elf.

I didn't notice that there was a download pending in the Downloadable Content menu this morning, but I checked now and it was there. I found that this can be fixed by editing the manifest.xml file in the Settings directory and changing the State of the v 1.1 DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME ContentManifestEntry from NotDownloaded to ConsumeSuccess. That should remove it from the pending downloads.

After I read this post from OldMan91, I tried to load save game while log off, and the armor returned! Great. And after that even I load the save file while log in, BD armor will still be there. Tried 10 times, could be a permanent fix for me.

Ha, I knew it! Image IPB That fixed my problem. Image IPB (And don't worry about your timing: I tidied up my PC while waiting and did some Christmas shopping.)

For people who are experiencing the loss of their Blood Dragon Armour after installing the fix, please see the following post: http://social.biowar...8/index/294757.

It may be caused by an issue where you do not have your cd key installed to your registry.

I cant stop windows explorer from renaming the file to .zip - I tried right clicking and saving, all files, e.c.t, I can't rename the extension - any help that works?  All I end up with if I try and rename is this, DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME_1.1.dazip.zip

Thanks but no, my CD key is installed in my registry and has been ever since I first installed the game, but I still lost the Blood Dragon Armor items from all my save games after installing the v1.1 fix. Are you saying that installing this fix can somehow delete the CD key from the registry? :o

Well, mine was still there after having installed the fix for the first time. I can confirm that one without any doubt because I check the configuration tool often.

@Zartan88:
Some Windows Explorer versions (e.g. Vista's) try to prevent any change to the file type by automatically directing the user to the file name. A solution worth trying would be clicking on the file (so it actives renaming) and then manually navigating to the file type - by clicking on the file type a second time or using the arrow buttons. Or you could check your Explorer settings.

Are you using Internet Explorer as your web browser? I use Firefox and don't have any problems with downloading and saving files as .dazip. Anyway, easiest solution is to simply rename the file after you've downloaded it, right-click on the downloaded file and choose "Rename", just change the extension from .zip to .dazip.

I can't get access to the extension - I can't belive Bioware all this jumping through hoops to fix this error and now it looks that if I can even download this file I won't be able to use it!

btw I'm using Windows Vista 64bit - Windows Explorer

Apologies, I thought you meant you couldn't rename when trying to download. Sorry to say I've no idea what could be preventing you from simply renaming, although I'm sure someone else round here will probably have a solution. Is it only the files you're downloading from here that you can't rename or you can't rename any file?

Tis ok - I know your trying to help, to answer your question I can rename the file at download to DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME_1.1.dazip but after it's downloaded its DAO_PRC_PROMO_ME_1.1.dazip.zip and I can't touch the extension - this whole thing is driving me crazy - I can't understand why all of this was not put into the official 1.02 patch insted of this!

By default windows hides the file extensions.  This link has steps which show you how to make them visible.
