Ken seems to be Scottish. I've never met anyone else that would willingly (and happily!) eat haggis.

There are certainly people who want that to happen.

But it isn't.

Nor will it by the timeline of ME comes about. It's only a few generations.

No - but it is suggested and commented on in the ME novels and I think it even makes a comment about in the game at some point.

Doesn't make much sense then. ME is set less than 200 years from now.

The only way the majority of the human species would be racially mixed is if there is a massive social campaign to actively encourage people to stop breeding within their own races.

I don't imagine something like that going over too well with a lot of people.

There's certainly be more mixed people then than are now, but they'd still be a minority.

Oh for sure - but the commentary only suggests its starting to happen and is becoming noticable - not that it has happened.

Neither did the US. They simply built off of what the Protheans had.

Aye, but it'd still mean the majority of peoples would retain their native accents.

Really the only reason for the American/Canadian accents in game is because they primarily use American and Canadian voice actors.

Which I posted a while back.

The other thing with accents that could be used to describe it in a lore sense - is if you stick people together for long enough, they all sort of end up speaking in a very similar fashion. Accents included.

I've met Americans here who have been here for a few years and they sound like Australians, and I've met Australians who have gone to America and come back sounding more american. It isn't always the case obviously - but with global media and less vocal isolation, accents are becoming less pronounced.

I agree that the time line isn't enough to make it a definitive answer, but in a lore sense for the sake of...well..for the sake of loring it up I guess - I think it holds.

You know, people from different countries won't always have distinguishable accents. For example, watch one of the dev vids, you won't pick much "Canadian accent", except certain pronunciations, like ou in out, about, thousand, etc. At least, that's what Americans tell me.

People's accents in accross America vary greatly.
