I find the lack of Mexicans in space displeasing.
Bioware should rename the Normandy the " Alamo" and switch Kasumi's bar with a taco stand.

I fully support this

You can also play the game with German, French, Italian or Spanish voice acting, so the whole thing kinda depends on what language you're playing in.

I've always just assumed that the universal translators works with different languages as well. Other species don't have accents, why would someone who speak a language much closer to yours have one?

If it were reversed, ie Russian commander and American spaceman, and the American had to converse in Russian with exactly the same effeciency as you described, what would that American be then?

These guys get to go up to space, they're already better than most of us. Show some respect, hey?

But for most of WWII the Commies were on the Alliance.

NO! That's a bunch Commy lies!

Amurica won the whole war! (Canda is part of Amurica.) Why it was my great grandfather Billy-Bub who shot and killed Hatler in Burling. He then also persuaded the Gapanese to create Aneme by gving them Microwaves so they could cook their food. I dun know it's the truth because is what I was taught!

Anyways it's purty obvious to me the Reapers are from Rusha. (Spoiled Eggs Alert!)

1. They are big and scary. Like all things from Rusha.
2. The Reapers are going to force us into a machine together. That's Commyism!
3. There name starts with an "R". That makes it Rushin.

(Eh I can have a bit of fun now can't I?)

Does Zaeed count as Turkish?

The doctor on the Citadel in Mass Effect 1 (where you meet Garrus) is French. Besides having a French name, she speaks with a French accent. There is also an Alliance Lieutenant on one of the N7 missions in Mass Effect 1 that has a French name, though a North American accent. I guess it is up to the player to decide whether or not the LT is French or French-Canadian. Udina if I'm not mistaken, is either Spanish or from a nation that was formerly a Spanish colony.

Considering Zaeed's accent he's probably British by nationality. His ethnic origin is probably either mixed or entirely Middle-Eastern however.

Which is people who don't speak english(as their first language) are retards?

Or is it just that if you put people who don't speak the same language together then someone has to be the idiot and try to speak in... english?

Yeah one has to wonder why people have italian/french accents where there is no italian/french language ... but oh well. Obviously non-english languages with subtitles are not popular. Not even in Canada.

That the language barrier within multinational crews is inefficient and more over perpetuates inefficiency. And that it'd be more advantageous to have crews fluently speak one language, be it Russian or English. The issue isn't that they're speaking a language they're unfamiliar with, but that they have to speak that language at all. You'd think something as delicate as space flight and habitating would demand the least incongruity between members, yet we have international crews solely for the sake of sentiment and press. Not that hard to figure out, really.

Okay, I've dragged this fairly off topic, sorry. But I'll just put this out here, ISS missions are typically science missions, and in science there are collaborations between labs from all over the world, and typically the medium is english. Of course they have the benefit of time to smooth over the language issue, but that doesn't change the fact that a duck is talking to a chicken, as it were.

That and having been to several different countries for long term stays, I'm just a bit more sensitive to tones of jingoism and racism, even if in jest.

I'm australian and wanna see more of my kinsman in mass effect. Movie directors use us as the tough guys in movies (sam worthington, chris hemsworth, hugh jackman, russle crowe) yet we rarely, if ever, see an australian male in video games. WTF!?

And yet rarely do they 'sound' Australian, do they? That's just part of the issue, everyone's used to the 'merican/various English accents, so other accents really do get the small roles.

I want to see Richard Castle Mal Reynolds Nathan Fillion get a major role in a game, that would be ACE. After all, games definitely need more ruggedly handsome characters.

What i want to see is some arabian country is making a multimillion project movie, game, book where the main cast is not Arab, better yet an American. :D Good luck finding one. Applies to every nation. Everybody creates things evolving about themselves. Which is quite logical since the writers write about people and cultures they know the best, namely their own. Were they to write about anybody's else culture it would be full of clichees, since thats all what their know. You are seriously expecting writer stuff to create a believable character out of something they havent experience themselves? Good luck with vodka drinking taco eating katana wielding Normandy crew.
