I'm australian and wanna see more of my kinsman in mass effect. Movie directors use us as the tough guys in movies (sam worthington, chris hemsworth, hugh jackman, russle crowe) yet we rarely, if ever, see an australian male in video games. WTF!?

Marketing suggests American men find our accent attractive.I don't know why,I don't care to know. It's annoying as hell though..

So Kaidan is greek.. is that why when it comes to personality he is BANKRUPT?

And I actually like Kaiden...he wont whin and **** to me every 2 seconds about some deep emotional problem he's unable to deal with unless I go out of my way to play Dr Phil and hold his hand through the experience.

Maybe that's the very same reasons why Germans think that French accent makes a woman sexy? :)
On the other side: I never met a woman that finds German accent sexy. Except my ex from Texas :innocent:

What i want to see is some arabian country is making a multimillion project movie, game, book where the main cast is not Arab, better yet an American. :D Good luck finding one. Applies to every nation. Everybody creates things evolving about themselves. Which is quite logical since the writers write about people and cultures they know the best, namely their own. Were they to write about anybody's else culture it would be full of clichees, since thats all what their know. You are seriously expecting writer stuff to create a believable character out of something they havent experience themselves? Good luck with vodka drinking taco eating katana wielding Normandy crew.

Stick with the petroleum industry, entertainment industry aren't their thing.

The doctor on the Citadel in Mass Effect 1 (where you meet Garrus) is French. Besides having a French name, she speaks with a French accent. There is also an Alliance Lieutenant on one of the N7 missions in Mass Effect 1 that has a French name, though a North American accent. I guess it is up to the player to decide whether or not the LT is French or French-Canadian. Udina if I'm not mistaken, is either Spanish or from a nation that was formerly a Spanish colony.

Considering Zaeed's accent he's probably British by nationality. His ethnic origin is probably either mixed or entirely Middle-Eastern however.

Dr. Michel? I miss her. Udina is not Spanish name, he's probably Israeli.

Just 'cause her name is Michelle doesn't mean she's French. I banged a chick the other day called Michelle and she was from Alabama! On a completely unrelated note; her friends kept pronoucing her name as Mitchell... Almost as weird as her deep voice and hairy chest...

... That was a dude, wasn't it. :(

This topic might be reading too far into the game's production. I think it just has to do with where the studio can hire actors, and usually it is in their biggest market, or where they create the game.

Well I *am* South African and Zaeed definitely isn't. The only South African in the game is Donovan Hock from Kasumi's loyalty mission. And he has an Afrikaans South African accent, which is derived from Dutch settlers.

You *do* get British-sounding South African accents (parts of S.A. were colonized by English settlers too), but it's easy to tell (at least for me) that Zaeed has a British accent. It's definitely not Australian ha ha.

EDIT: Also, Robin Sachs, who voices Zaeed, was born in London, England. Don't get much more British than that!

Also in the world of ME most humans are mixed right? So why don't they ever look mixed? Most of the people in ME are just caucasians with dark hair..... there are more ethnicities out there bioware lol ; )

Also where are all the Chinese people? China should be one of, if not the biggest, financiers for the Alliance, so where the hell are all the Asain troops at? That goes for India too.

That's nonsense! I've only met one Canadian in person... and I hated him. He was a stuck-up and pretentious douche. Hated him, hated him, hated him<_<.

I'm sure that's a mere coincidince though.

While there aren't too many important Asian characters (Kai Leng, Kasumi etc..), there are MANY Asian NPCs walking around, and some you interact with. So I guess they are accounted for!

At least his first name seems to be of an Aussie variation of Saeed.  And his last name might be plausibly Italian. But true, that means nothing to where someone grew up.

Why wouldn't they? Accents are a learned behavior. It is mirrored behavior through environmental exposure. One can completely remove their accent if they wished just by unlearning it. Actors can mimic many accents proving how superfluous they are. They serve no purpose other than a regional preference of native speakers.

You did notice James Vega, Kaidan, Khalisha, Ashley, Anderson, Udina and Jacob, right?  They all had tan to black skin.  Most of the crew of the Normandy 2 was white, I agree.
