If she must be there, I hope there is a really good reason for her to be there, like spying on Shepard for the Reapers or our asari "friends" under the reporter cover. And she better attempt to stab Shepard in the back in the crucial moment, and if you romance her, it better influence her actions in the culmination scene.
But no, there's probably no hidden depths to her character nor secret motivations to her presence on the Normandy - the most crucial, most tightly secured ship in the Last Harvest War.
