I just switched from a 19" standard to a 23" widescreen monitor.  Even with the aspect ration set at 16:9 I'm having the very top and bottom of the screen cut off in the game.  I would prefer not to play in 1280x1024 window, but I also don't want the top of Shepard's head clipped off in a cut scene.  Any suggestions or thoughts?  I believe I've checked each of the different video settings, and the widescreen choices all seem to be the same.

Do you have a 16:9 or a 16:10 one?? I would say play with your config selections in the config utility to get the best picture.

Thanks. It's a brand new ASUS VS247H. It supports every operating mode under the sun. It's 23.5x14.5...so I think that translates to 16:9. I've been playing with my config and picked what I think is best. I'm still wondering if I'm correct in assuming that the game images were built in a 4:3 ratio?

23.5/14.5=1.62...

That is a 16:10 monitor not a 16:9.
16/10=1.6
16/9=1.77

So try the 16:10 ratio and see if that doesn't fix the issue.

Since it's an Xbox 360 game it was designed to be optimal in widescreen, but I believe in Mass Effect 2 a 4:3 or 5:4 aspect ratio gives you more vertical information instead of less horizontal information., same as Bioshock which is built on the same engine. During dialog any non-widescreen ratio gives letterboxes.

Thanks. Clearly my math skills need some work. I'll see how it improves.
