I've installed this last night on my PC and I've a query about the Combat system that I've not been about to find the answer to from either reading the manual, googling or speaking to EA Support about. I've not played any of the other Dragon Age games.
I know I can engage the enemy by pressing R or right clicking on them however after doing this my character attacks and defeats the enemy without me needing to do anything else. I've checked and can't see any auto-attack setting in the Options. Is combat purely a matter of selecting a target and then letting the character do all the fighting for you or am I missing something?
I've chosen a rogue if that affecs anything. Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Yes to start the basic auto-attack you can either right click on a specific enemy or press R to attack the closest one. You do not have to do anything else to continue to auto-attack but you have manually use spells/abilities. They will be added to the quick bar at the bottom of the screen as you acquire them from leveling up. They are activated by either clicking on the icon or pressing the correct key binding for the first ten slots (default is 1-10 on the key board but you can change that in the options). SIngle tartget abilities will activate against your current target, or if you dont have one it will let you select a new one and AOE abilities will let you target where you want it to go.
The prologue does a decent job of explaining the combat system during the first fight and it gives you massive health and mana/stamina regen so you dont have to worry about it while you get the feel of the combat.
I hope this was clear and please ask if you have any more questions!

Thank you for your reply that answers my question. I wasn't sure as the only RPGs I've played for the last decade have been both Mass Effects and WoW and I'm used being more involved in combat.
If the prologue was the fight against the Skeletor Mobs and then that Ogre prior to the character creation screen I don't recall seeing/hearing any explanation of combat but might have missed it somehow, I shall go back try it again.
Thanks again for your clear and prompt response to my query
