Well, since this is the new, hip, happening thread, felt this was worth reposting. Congratulations again, everyone!

Congrats everyone! Like many, a little disappointed to not have placed (though hardly surprised - I wrote mine in two rapid-fire bursts, the last bits squeezed in between other deadlines), but also very appreciative of the feedback David's given the entrants. Looking forward to reading the winning entries over the next few days! Just posted to SoLD's thread and would love to get some feedback from the community (I've been reading the previous thread religiously, believe you me). Work mode activate!

Yeah it was really nice to see some familiar names from that thread on the list, I cheered extra hard for everyone I recognized. We still need to have a little writing corner or group or thread or something!

Guess we should open the "Writer's Corner" then. The question is: Where? Since the others should be able to post there too.

For those of you who are feeling bad, I just want to tell you that THERE ARE NO WINNERS IN WRITING. Just the fact that you get to sit down to translate your ideas into words is an amazing feat already. Not everyone in this world is capable of doing this!!!

And yes, I won't lie. I'm disappointed that I didn't even place in the top 20 but I will console myself by spending extra time writing today. Why? Because I love doing it and nothing will ever change that!! <3

Big congratulations to everyone who made the list, btw. And maybe Kilyra will let us suggest some questions to ask the big cheese when she claims her prize? Pretty please? At the very least, I hope we get to hear/read the conversation after it happens. I know I'd be so over the moon happy if I got to do that!!! :D

A thousand times, this! Not every person out there is able to eloquently spread their thoughts across a proverbial canvas and try to tell a story of the ages. If you think about it, some people have a hard enough time with capitalization and punctuation that the notion of writing out a story is beyond their scope.

Just because we (the unlisted ones) didn't make the list doesn't mean that our stories were all garbage or unworthy of even seeing the titles of. David himself said in a tweet that just because people (like me) didn't make the top 20 didn't mean that we wrote bad stories, but that there were so many good stories that not all could be chosen.

In a way, the feedback and advice that David wrote in his companion slip is just as much a prize to me from this contest as any phone call or accessories pack. Anyone who dreams of writing something, or even does write, always lives to improve. If we think we have done good enough, how many mistakes will we leave overlooked? I can say that the advice David gave will stay with me for a long time, and I hope it will help influence my future work.

In the end, however, we all gave it our best. Some people's best was better than others, as with any other contest. Do not mistake that for dismissal, I am sure that the team enjoyed many more entries that they couldn't list. Most importantly, for those of us unlisted, keep writing! We have a knack, or whatever you wish to call it, that some people would dream of having. It's just that sometimes we need a bit of a reminder that we aren't automatically the best and need not learn any more.

Absolutely agreed!  My husband is a great storyteller.. but not at all a talented story writer.  (Sorry, dear.)  When we were first dating, one of my favourite things for us to do together was to curl up on the sofa while he told me stories.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

And now... I have to go beat down the rash of iSucks (Apple's least publicized technological release) that cropped up in the back of my head.

Look at it like this:  we got a larger writers' community out of this.

Don't beat that emotion down. It's totally OK to feel disappointed. You did your best and expected the best. When the results weren't what you wanted, it's OK to feel bad about it. It's a winner's attitude. It means you care and will always expect better out of yourself.

Let that drive burn inside you so you'll improve and do better next time. <<THAT is the prize awarded to those of us who didn't win.

Ha, I consoled myself by deleting a story I'd agonized over for weeks. I'd rather stick a fork in my eye than open another word processor.

Positivity, how does it work?

That sucks to hear. There is an expression I learned a long time ago, "An artist is his own worst critic/enemy.". In my experience, nobody will beat themselves up more than an artist who recognizes the flaws in their own work. I, myself, keep everything I write on a thumbdrive that I work off of. That way, I never lose anything prior that I can learn lessons from by reading and understanding what went wrong.

I'm sorry you deleted your story but sometimes you have to lance a boil in order for it to heal. I love the fact that you agonized over your story for several weeks. That tells me you put 110% into writing your submission and that shows a lot of heart. Never lose that passion! It's a rare trait and it will serve you well IRL. I wish more people were like you!

Aha, ummm, I don't know? I joined the community for the sole purpose of entering the competition so I am a complete noob to everything outside of it ^^; Maybe someone else has a good suggestion...

I'm going to celebrate by buying a bottle of Johnnie Walker black label and reinacting some George Thorogood.

I have a question that probably should have been asked before.

Were titles required? I didn't title mine and I noticed that all of the people who won had titled works.

Also, I would just LOVE to read the fictions that won if those lucky few feel comfortable with linking me to theirs. ;)

Congrats to everyone who made the cut, and especially to Kilyra for the win!

I won't lie - seeing my name in the top twenty made my whole day. This has been a fantastic experience, and I can't thank you guys enough for putting it on.

(P.S. Dear Mr. Kristjanson, thank you so much for not hating me!)

EDIT: For any interested, my story is here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7796228/1/

I'm about to run out the door for work, but really wanted to pop in first and offer congratulations to the winners. I can't wait to read your entries!

Thank you for this great opportunity, Bioware; I really do feel like I've learned a thing or two. More than that though, I had a ball contributing.

And again, congratulations to the winners. I hope you're all partying hard up on Cloud 9 ;)

Thank you Bioware for giving us this opportunity, and I hope there will be many more!  A special thank you for listing the top 20 and letting me know that I made it that far.  Congratulations to all of you whether you placed or not.  We all worked hard and should be proud of it!  :)

Have to say that as much as I despised Carver in my game, you make him pretty sympathetic. Good job, :)

Gratz to everyone, all winners known and unknown -  :D
I'd love to join up a writing community - I know there is a sizable LJ group focused on Alistair, but I haven't been there in a while (I recognized Sag.Rage's name from there - awesome work!)

Just like to mention David's generosity of spirit towards FF as shown in his article.

Thanks David!

And thanks everyone for their kind words! I too would like to read at least the top 20 stories if not more. I just love the DA universe and am greedy when it comes to getting my hands on all the stores about it I can. Needless to say I frequent the fanfiction site a lot :) I wonder if they will post them somewhere?

I'm honestly so happy for you. Like truly, genuinely happy for you to the point where I'm almost in a similar drunken, stupor of excitement. I would absolutely love to read your story if you'd be willing to share it.
