However, Silver members of Xbox live don't even get access to the demo until a week after it's release.
Does this mean that they'll still have to wait a week to play the ME3 demo and THEN they'll have access to the multiplayer/Gold portion?

Cuz I have a silver account and there's no way I'm waiting a week.
*sighs*

Pre order canceled.
Is this becoming the BSN version of "Soldier Update Confirmed" ?
Don't bring that overused joke here! it's SPUF's version for "Arrow in the knee.".

Well that's going to kill the last of my willpower that's resisting going gold for one game. Damn your hides!
Ugh! I am not looking forward to going through the hassle of canceling gold again once I'm bored of multiplayer...
Buy a 3 month pre-paid gold membership. Without a credit card on file it'll simply auto-cancel. Also, it's pretty easy to set your profile to not auto renew via xbox.com

Not saying that's what they'll do, hopefully they will though. Would be nice for it to come out for gold and silver same day. Or have it come out on the 17th for Silvers since that's when the MP opens up anyways.
-edit-
Credit card or no you set the account to go monthly or not. Just make sure its not set to auto-pay. If you've already cancelled should already be set that way. I only use the cards you buy from store, get a years worth at a time. Easy to ignore and I don't have to hassel 'ever' with canceling anything.

Are people going to whine to you about an Xbox LIVE policy? Just get a Gold Account. It's worth it.
Not for me it's not.
I'm literally only considering it for ME3, I have no interest whatsoever in playing any other multiplayer game on my Xbox, and every other exclusive gold feature I can get for free on my computer or iPod.
I just really bloody love Mass Effect, and, assuming those bollocks leaked endings don't end up in the final game and putting me off getting it at all, I'm probably going to feel satisfied paying out another 15 quid to use it's multiplayer mode for three months. But after that, I would literally be pissing money away by paying for gold for no reason.

My gold membership doesn't expire until sometime after march inronically, but I'll have a week or so to play the real MP mode tho'
That's REALLY awesome for XBLers that don't have it though

And I should be allowed to carry a golden Lancer in MP, because I have unlocked some achievements in both ME1 and ME2! AND, I should be given an N7 hoodie because I preordered ME3 whilst wearing pants!

Many people have asked whether a gold Xbox Live account would be required in order to play the upcoming Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo and the answer is Yes, a gold xbox live account will be required to play the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo.
Now, before you start ranting and crying and burning me in effigy.... <Professor Farnsworth>Good news, everyone!</Professor Farnsworth> The demo of Mass Effect 3 will include a limited time Gold access when you download the demo.
Here is the word I was just sent from our friends over at Microsoft:
"In celebration of ME3, Xbox is pleased to provide fans access to ME3 demo multiplayer for the time leading to launch. Xbox LIVE Gold gives you exclusive benefits including multiplayer gaming, member-only deals & previews, and access to entertainment with Netflix, ESPN, Hulu Plus and more."
So now everyone with Xbox Live, whether you already have XBL Gold or not, will be able to play teh Mass Effect 3 multiplay demo and experience Xbox Live Gold at the same time.

Congrats, XBox folk.
Looks suspiciously like Microsoft apologising for November events
No it's not. It's more like Microsoft sees a honey pot of potential people to buy Gold memberships. It's for the same reason Microsoft gives free Gold weekends around some other big game releases and other random times of the year. They want you to have so much fun playing online and with the Gold features that you'll want to buy a membership.
