Interesting,

I just hope, there's no hidden hurdle where I'd need to provide credit card info to redeem the trial.

If I ever did have Gold, it was way too long ago, and short lived, for me to properly remember how that aspect worked, and I've never actually tried getting it since.

Very nice. I thought that I'd have to stick to the PS3 version in order to play free but it's nice to hear that I'll be able to get some practice in with a 360.

Many people have asked whether a gold Xbox Live account would be required in order to play the upcoming Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo and the answer is Yes, a gold xbox live account will be required to play the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo.

Now, before you start ranting and crying and burning me in effigy.... <Professor Farnsworth>Good news, everyone!</Professor Farnsworth> The demo of Mass Effect 3 will include a limited time Gold access when you download the demo.

Here is the word I was just sent from our friends over at Microsoft:
"In celebration of ME3, Xbox is pleased to provide fans access to ME3 demo multiplayer for the time leading to launch.  Xbox LIVE Gold gives you exclusive benefits including multiplayer gaming, member-only deals & previews, and access to entertainment with Netflix, ESPN, Hulu Plus and more."

So now everyone with Xbox Live, whether you already have XBL Gold or not, will be able to play the Mass Effect 3 multiplay demo. :)

You need gold membership to play most multipler modes so this is nothing new.Image IPB

you wont. its the same as buying an XBL time card from a store and using the code thats on it. no CC info needed.

I'd like to clarify that I don't own Battlefield 3, I was just asking about how this affects those with the early multiplayer access.

That is good to here. So I can try out the multiplayer part :)

Don't know if it is the right place to ask as it is concering Kinect but:

Since I do not live in the US or UK my Kinect does not support dashboard voice commands (only if I log in with my second US account or if I am in offline mode). What I am wondering then is if ME3 supports Kinect, AFAIK English as well as German lanugage, can I then choose to speak German or English and Kinect will understand me either way or do I have to change the language in the options? Or is it dependent on the game itself (I will get the UK CE).

I ask this because today you hardly have control of options anymore as the Xbox and PC are all automatically choose settings based on your location, IP and whatnot. Hope someone can answer this or point me in the right direction. Thanks.

People always whine when it comes to XBL & MS Points. I don't know the reason. They're not even expensive.

That's quite the olive branch to those who don't have a gold membership.

If you own an X360 and don't have a Gold account, what's the point of owning an console in a first place?

Hmm, if the demo comes with a free month of Gold, does anyone think they would also include a free month with a purchase of ME3?

I dont understand why people dont buy gold in the first place. Its bascially the main selling point for the 360. If your and adult with a job, you can afford the meager price. If your a kid, then you just get it for christmas or your birthday. You really dont have an excuse for not getting it and frankly, your just missing out. This is not a rant, but a reality. Id rather pay 50 dollars a year for Xbox Live than 14.99 a month for World of Warcraft, which im sure alot of people here have.

Exactly.

Yes, I'm an adult, I have a job, I can afford it (I was able to afford a PS3, too, to give you an idea), but ~$50/year isn't worth it when you don't care for 99.9% of multiplayer games and new demos. Hell I barely pay attention to anything on my dashboard at all. In fact I've got a couple codes for free months of Gold lying around and still no use for them (until now, if I do indeed need Gold to get the demo on the 14th. I actually totally forgot about that policy... it wasn't around when I first got a 360).

edit: Main selling point? lol

Why would I pay fifty bucks if I don't play any multi-player focused games?

12+2 months of X360 Gold account costs 32 UK pounds or 50US$. Page is CheapXBOXLiveCodes.Com - PayPal only. Before anyone starts accusing/pointing fingers in my direction..... (I'm advertising them just to say everyone how awesome their service is; I don't profit from this free ad in no way).
If you're adult who has a permanent job or even student with part time job you should be able to buy pay this meager price for awesome service you get. If you can't afford it, well it's time to ask yourself is this current job/ profession good for you.
If you don't see yourself in text above you can always ask your granny. She usually saves "money for black days" under her bed/stock drawer etc...

Then you buy ME3 for PC. Problem solved.

Recomended ME3 specs are already obsolete for gaming rigs today.

You have options. Always.

simple to use Netflix and other apps as well get demos on the same day they get released . MP gaming is no longer the core feature of XBL anymore its a entertainment service now with all the video content apps on it as well streaming tv channels .

Who said I cared about the multi-player or the other stuff Gold provides? I'm not gonna spend money on a service I'm not gonna use. If I would, that would be plain consumerism, the stuff that among other things got global economy in the crap hole that it is now.

I think that having a few days of free Gold would be a good idea for people who want to demo the multi-player of the game. So smart move of Bioware/EA and Microsoft.

However, Silver members of Xbox live don't even get access to the demo until a week after it's release.

Does this mean that they'll still have to wait a week to play the ME3 demo and THEN they'll have access to the multiplayer/Gold portion?

this, i need an answer!

I'm confused about this... so the demo will only be shown on the dashboard to current Silver member a week later (Feb 21)? I don't have Gold at the moment and I want to try the SP part of the demo, do I have to upgrade to Gold JUST to download the demo?

ME3 MP is the first MP I want to try out and if it is as fun as it looks like, I'm gonna upgrade to gold. There hasnt been any reason until now to pay for the service I dont use. SP games work just fine with silver :P Though I have gold right now cause of Amalur and ME demos.

For me there is no reason to gold even though I could afford it. I don't play much multiplayer games (I once bought 1 month gold to play Halo with a friend and we ended up playing for about 5 days - haha) and here in Austria the apps are a joke. We have no netflix or anything just zune and skype...

If I like the ME3 multiplayer I could see myself buy another month of gold (maybe three) and play for a while (my friends are up for it) but honestly gold is way overpriced for what it offers for me personally (since I don't have many online friends and usually only play single player games).
