Becuase before the beacon Shepard was also a generic Alliance soldier? And Shepard's only human, I'm glad Bioware are putting a stop to all this Marry sue BS that Shepards got.

Anyway from what I got from that scene is Shepard's using sparring as a excuse to get Vega to open up, Vega might be more honest about his opinions and past when he's focused on fighting.

Losing to a subordinate makes no sense.

It's not about that....Shepards cybered up, it would be ridiculous for Vega to win....BW would be suggesting Vega has natural super human strength if that was the case....Shep isn't naturally the stronger, the cyber augmentation has made him so.

Lol to my knowledge the enhancements were never confirmed to do anything of the sort. It sounds more like you're going; Bwaaaaaa! my shep is undefeatable because I want him to be.

Remember Lair of the Shadow Broker, where Shepard went hand-to-hand... with a YAHG? Shep's obviously got some augs working in his/her favor.

The scene with Vega is a cutscene is it not? S/he could very easily get away with it.

With that artwork showing Leng standing over a defeated Shepard with his foot on the chest, with Shepard's gun in his hand and he's crushing it, I greatly suspect that actually will happen in the first encounter with Leng. I expect the first fight with him will end with Shepard beaten. It actually would make sense too, unlike the Vega fight, because Leng has all the enhancements Shepard has... Possibly even more advanced then what was put into Shepard at that.

I don't mind losing in one scenario but I wan't atleast one outcome where Shepard wins. It could something like this...
Vega has Shepard pinned down on the ground and then there is a renegade interrupt to trip him. He falls right on top of Shepard and they begin wrestling. They're both sweaty as **** and things begin to get super intense. Then Vega grabs Shepard and holds him in a headlock. Shepard is struggling to get out but then he sees a rebar on the ground. Theres a renegade interrupt to pick it up and then BAM! Vega ends up in the med bay.

To be honest, I think Shep was just pulling his punches. At least in some cases, he isn't the kind of guy that beats the living daylights out of someone who is on his crew.

However, I do think Shepard would win if they were ACTUALLY fighting. Not because I don't want Shep to lose, but simply because he has a Hardened skin weave, Hardened Muscle weave, and Hardened Bone weave. That means he has slightly bullet/knife/krogan-proof skin, shatterproof bones, and muscles like Master Cheif.

Because no matter how badass you are, there is somebody out there who can kick your ass. For Shep it is apparently James Vega. Nobdoy, and I mean nobody is invincible.

Perhaps a middle of the road approch would be to have an even spar with him.  I'd imagine it as multiple times during the fight where a paragon inturrupt causes a counter, with softer sparring strikes to follow up, whereas the renegade interrupt have shepard going hard on him. After everything shepard has been through, it at least should be an option to beat vega's face in, have an even sparring match, or possibly let him win. It would baffle me if bioware were to simply say "nope vega is better, you have no choice. Forget this silly roleplyaing idea" Why not let renegade shepards straighten him out?

If it was real Vega wouldn't win even if he is secretly loaded up with enhancements. To steal (and change) a quote from David Gemmell..."If it was a fight for wealth I would pick Vega, but in a fight to the death there would only be Shepard".

That's what I'm thinking. A paragon Shep would let him get in his hits, maybe to get him talking. A renegade Shep would knock him around to establish dominance. Either way, I predict Shep would win in the end. Either that or paragon will call it off before he has to get brutal. Honestly, I think Shep could take Vega in a fight.

But it will not bother me if I'm wrong.
