No he didn't. Shepard got one punch in during the scrimage and it was a sucker punch that caused Saren to stumble. Saren pretty much dominated that little exchange.

Honestly, I think it was something closer to this. With that smirk Shepard has at the end, despite getting severely bloodied, I kinda got that Fight Club vibe, with that one scene where Brad Pitt lets the basement owner beat the crap out of him.

I don't mind losing in one scenario but I wan't atleast one outcome where Shepard wins. It could something like this...
Vega has Shepard pinned down on the ground and then there is a renegade interrupt to trip him. He falls right on top of Shepard and they begin wrestling. They're both sweaty as **** and things begin to get super intense. Then Vega grabs Shepard and holds him in a headlock. Shepard is struggling to get out but then he sees a rebar on the ground. Theres a renegade interrupt to pick it up and then BAM! Vega ends up in the med bay.

Wait.....why is there some random rebar laying on the ground?  I must've missed the part where The Alliance reinforced the hull with concrete...........
