I really like Steve. I think his arc was done really well. But I do feel kind of bad romancing him. I did all that work getting him to move on from his dead husband and then I went and died on him. Poor guy has rotten luck when it comes to love.

Another cool thing is that Steve will acknowledge your relationship with Kaidan if you're in one. When you talk to him in Purgatory and ask him why he's not checking you out he'll say, "Who says I'm not looking. But I know you have something with Kaidan." I thought that was a nice little touch.

I never thought about this, actually - it really makes me frustrated with those endings. Steve lost two romantic interests in a year.

I feel worse about helping him get over his husband's death (which Steve was clearly suffering about) and then hitting on him in just about the next conversation.

I'll have a Shepard who romances him (probably), but it didn't feel comfortable on my main Shepard.

That's one way to look at that. My Shep wanted to hold him and scream "but you have me!" It's hard to resist romancing him, he's a great character, love how much interaction is with him, he's very well done! Will be romancing him on my second playthrough <3 I'm very happy with both m/m LIs in ME3, they're just great!

What is this "I saved Steve" thing I keep hearing? Where he can die? I thought it was cut from the script (if you assigned him instead of Joker to some mission)? I never got any option like that, there was a scene in the ending where Shep screams "Cortez!!!" and it kind of seems like he may have died there, but I'm not sure

If you're this ectstatic Isaac, then maybe I should consider giving Steve a go myself, whenever I get around to my second playthrough (have yet to even get Kaidan back on my first but was generally happy with his hospital chat).

You should, Cortez is great it was hard for my Shep to resist, thankfully he won't have to in my new playthrough

So in the ending, Cortez was shot down and presumably died. Kaidan, despite having never spoken to him to my knowledge, was absolutely distraught by this. I've seen a video of his goodbye message on Youtube but I never got that. Did I just fail to find out that he was still alive or did he actually die in mine? And why was that? Did I not kill something fast enough or something? It's not like I told him to stick around and he got shot down instead of leaving or anything.

As for his character, I think I would have liked it a lot more if he hadn't inexplicably disappeared from the shuttle area and only ever appeared when piloting the shuttle down on missions. I'm pretty sure he wasn't supposed to do that, especially as I walked in on him bantering with Vega once when he wasn't actually there.

Don't think he was dissapearing on you, sometimes he moves from his consule and does some maintenance on the shuttle so he's kind of hidden.

It seemed like he died in my first play-through but then I could have the goodbye conversation with him on the comm so... I guess he's ok haha

Must've been a bug, he never disappeared for me. He was sometimes fixing Kodiak so maybe you just missed him???

I loved his character, although simalarly to others I felt bad for giving him hope and turning him down, felt sneaky for hitting on him just as I push him to get over his husband (screams alterior motive) and If I did end up following though I'd feel rotten for dying on him after that too.

One thing that really bugged me was I thought I kept seeing him everywhere, but so many look so similar and the lighting of the game really doesn't help at all. Who was the guy that was Highlightable that would salute you circling the crew deck?

Though he had some great touching moments and hilarious banter with Vega. Missed his comment on Kaidan, will he wait that long for the date then? The email comes ages before you get Kaidan back. So much so I was tempted to go for him anyway but held on, there can be only one.

From what I've heard, if you complete either his romance or friendship path he won't die. But I'm still not sure if he actually dies at all. It was in the beta script, but I'm not sure it made it to the game.

He does. Though I'm not sure why not befriending him (I would have if I could find him!) gets his shuttle shot down while he lives through the crash if do. Although I guess that explains why Kaidan was the one upset and Shepard didn't say anything.

No, once you initiate a romance, you're committed.

I like Cortez a lot. He's one of the deeper characters and I really felt with him for his loss.
What I also like about him is, that there is no ducking around or being cautious, he simply says he has lost his husband. Seems like in the future all the hate current society still has for homosexuals is gone. I like that. I never understood why someone would treat people worse just for them being drawn to the same sex. Or being heavier than others, or having a different skin color.

I befriended him, and he survived in my game. I was able to call him before the final storm, and he was alive and well.

Because he's still distracted from the grief of his husband, you haven't helped him move on properly. No different to the suicide mission in 2 and not special treatment cause he's gay.

Love Steve. When he got shot down during the final mission, I panicked. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that my Shepard was too. I clearly remember him screaming "STEEEEVEEEE!" Thankfully, he survived! He's actually a pretty amazing gay character. Sure, he has the "dead spouse syndrome," but it's not as heavy-handed as Carth was.

They totally messed the levels on that line. He roars out like a siren over the battlefield.

I thought maybe Shepard was romancing him behind my back or something, the way he hollers that line. Dude, it's just the pilot, calm down. :-)
