No, you didn't start romancing him. You can only start the romance during the drinking scene if you literally tell him that you want to be with him.

He's super easy not to romance. You can even flirt with him a little and dance with him at the bar and still tell him you just want to be friends. He doesn't even get upset about it.

oh ok, i was just concerned about ninjamancing is all. so far i like his character, i just want him to stop being so bummed out all the time. i feel bad for him

If he already invited you for drinks, then you already helped him. The drinking scene is him having fun, relaxing and thanking you for help

One of the things I really liked about Cortez was how involved he was in the missions.  He's as integral to your success as anyone else you bring along, in fact some missions require his direct involvement to succeed...it really helped to make him feel as much a part of your team as the guys you bring with you to gun down the baddies.  In fact, depending on who you choose to bring, he might actually end up being more involved in your overall adventures than some of your "squad."

(I did think it was kinda funny on Rannoch when he started blasting the anti-air guns and I'm like WTF why didn't anyone tell me that my shuttle had rockets this whole time )

I wish he had more commentary on some of the "main" priority missions -- nothing to say about the genophage or the geth, Steve?  Really? -- but the upside seems to be that he comments more on your side, N7 missions than anyone else.  I mean, I wish he talked more in general, but then again I wish all my teammates talked more in general so that's not a Cortez-specific complaint.

Yes, Cortez pretty much feels like a squadmate because of his role and I love it. Agree that more commentary would be nice, but then again, if it wasn't for him then basically no one would comment on N7 mission and they would feel even more throw-away then they already do. Plus I kind of like that he basically claims "ownership" of these missions to himself, gives him even more content, screen time and involvement. He's pretty much a pefect example how to do a non-squadmate Normandy character and LI

I've tried searching but it's hard to find a pic that doesn't have a random custom Shep or terrible lighting.

The Citadel balcony scene has some bits which are nicely shot and decent with lighting


Unfortunately, all the screenshots I have with Cortez are with my customShep, not Sheploo

I agree with Isaac. And raising it... For my Shep, Cortez was much better suited then Kaidan (did them both). I don't know why, but he's just right. And Kaidan and Liara as friends - win-win! It just feels "right". You've got a new pilot, your old squad is there. You've entered a relationship with this cool, sexy guy, they are thinking "finally, Shep, you've found someone". Yeah, I like him. A LOT! M.

There should've been a shuttle pilot since ME2 already, even if it wasn't Cortez (since he's Alliance). In ME1, Normandy SR-1 could land and travel everywhere so Joker was fullfiling this role of a character the Shep communicates with locally and calls with for quick pick-ups, rescue and transport during the missions and who provides the alot of technical info on the missions. But in ME2 they had SR-2 be too heavy to land in most places and introduced Kodiak for that purpouse to transport Shep & the squad, but they didn't have a character to take the spot in the narrative that was left mostly empty with Joker sitting on then Normandy. So frankly, this seems to me like the most natural addition to the key Normandy crew. Feels weird now to go back to ME2 without a shuttle pilot, it's like "something's missing here" lol

And there should've been explorable Shuttle Bay in ME2 too, with an in-house store. This is one of the aspects that made the Normandy in ME3 feel so much like the one from ME1
