Steve is sad since you all forgot him. Less off-topic, please.

Steve is so adorable... Those eyes...

It's a bit sad as there's zilch dialogues with him between the Purgatory scene and the Cronos station. I demand more Steve! :P

Edit: ToP and I can't post pictures yet. :(

Tell me about it. It's where I got my avatar from.

There wasn't a picture of Steve for avatar. Such a shame. I just picked one randomly then and I'm too lazy to use the DA:O system to make one.

I was in that way of thinking not too long ago. I thought how ridiculous it was to have to use a whole other program in order to put a custom avatar. Oddly enough it turned out to be rather easy. I understand why they restrict custom avatars (though do little to enforce it); offensive stuff, smut, and all that. I would have picked an "official" Steve avatar, but as you well know there isn't one. I just love those eyes, so I had to put it as my ava! :P

I guess your last part was about my "edit" section.

Well, going from the ones I know it's been a mix-n-match of:   Family pressure, another wanted "kids of his own",  religious pressure, "It was college, we all do stupid stuff in college!",  and the most honest one was probably a "I was just curious/experimenting"

The college one was funny since he was the one who came onto me (I was still totally in denial at the time) and he's a big flame.  He was nice but wasn't really my type but we became friends and he got me to come-out by dispelling the gay stereotypes that I thought was real.

I can totally understand the Kids one, I'd love to have a child but it's not in the cards for me.

I guess I don't, or maybe can't, understand that. Perhaps your generation, at least a decade from mine, is just weird, I don't know. I could never be with a woman, I mean it's just not possible. Unless all of your friends were magically bi, I think something fishy is going on. Getting a child isn't an excuse either. There's always adoption and of course surrogacy.
I won't ask why you can't or won't have kids, too private for a public forum. :pinched:

Don't get me wrong, the ones I mentioned are a small part of the people I know than perhaps it sounded.  I have far more friends who are comfortable in their sexuality.

Do you live in the States?  I do and born and raised in one of the most "Red States" aka conservative states, and yes, I am a bit older than you and gay culture was more stereotyped when I was growing up.  Even here in Conservative America the Internet (and other world events) have largely dispelled the myths I grew up with.   I have friends just 5 or 6 years younger than I who grew up here and had a much different experience so yes, a few years can change.

As for kids, adoption is only available to married couples in my state, plus I wouldn't want to subject my child to the bigots here even if I could have adopted, and the third big reason, my husband didn't really want kids.... oh did we go rounds and rounds about that.  If we had lived somewhere where the other two issues didn't exist then I would have fought him about it until he gave in, but alas.

To put this OT, that's one thing I find great and admire about Steve's character;  He's totally open and comfortable about his sexuality where Kaidan comes off as more reserved and "closeted" and we have to share him with the icky girls .  It shows the contrast over just the last few years.

+1 I get the same feeling too, Seteve is much more open about things - I susupect it is because he is a bit older than Kaiden, also the lack of facial hair kills my interest in Kaiden. Though I wouldn't call girls Icky, they can be quite fun.

I live in the great, beautiful, and broke Republic of California. That in itself highly ups my chances of being liberal (gay or not) which, no shít, I very much am. Raised in a rather religious family. Funny thing, I didn't know what gay was until my friend asked me in 9th grade what I was attracted to; told him and he's like "wtf, you're gay?" and totally oblivious I'm like "No! Wait, what's that mean?" and then he tells me (long story short version). That was such an awkward day, but it just proved how fricken hidden from the world I was by my parents and religious teachers.

Also, you're married? You can't possibly still be in a red state then, yanno laws and such.

That is pretty nice, it wasn't in your face but it also wasn't something that was avoided or ashamed. Thumbs up to BioWare (and Dusty, who is Cortez's writer IIRC) for a good job! Kaidan is just robust, mature, and strong. Not to mention the whole dynamic behind Shep and Kaidan hiding their feelings because of military life (admittedly forced on us by devs not putting s/s stuff in ME1 but I'll take what I can get). To me it's more romantic and poetic with mShenko than fShenko mostly because of that aforementioned dynamic. Plus who doesn't like two lead characters in a game to be gay? Take that you stupid homophobes! Shepard is gay and he saved the whole damn galaxy!!!

So true. I don't get why some people make an outrage because of this. What does it matter if Shep happens to love Steve?

In the larger perspective of things, what Shepard does in his/her bedroom should not indicate his or her ability to be the badass that is Commander Shepard. People who complain about Shepard's questionable sexuality are no different than the dog next door that won't stop howling because his masters won't let him inside.

I hear you, I was raised under similar circumstances...I went to private schools. As a little kid I thought everyone was Bisexual - I mean...why not? But on account of my tenacious curiosity I learned that being attracted to a member of the same sex was somehow taboo, as a kid I felt this to be wrong: perhaps I was too much of an Idealist. So as I grew up I was aware of my real self, I just kept certain aspects of my personality hidden even from my own family - to this day I keep them out of my private life, but with my close male friends(both straight and Gay/Bi) and Girlfriends(both straight and gay) i'm out. But my family is problematic:  Because my mother has a rather prejudiced view of Bisexuals and homosexuals and being the youngest of six kids puts and additional layer of pressure on me.

Lol it amuses me how similar our experiences were:lol:.
I mean, I also attended a private school, with nuns no less. I wasn't aware of my attaction to the same gender, though. It's not like I wasn't always attracted, but I didn't think a man could make me feel the same way a woman could since I didn't have any preference and I was taught to think so.
Also, my parents, friends and even my wife know about me, I came out like a week or two after I found out for sure, because I didn't know what it was like to be in the closet when I was a kid and didn't want to find out in my 19s.  At first, they took it bad and made my life hell but it's been like seven years or so, thus they've coped with it and now they don't care. I'm glad they know who I am.

BTW, I don't think Kaidan is more closeted-like than Steve, he just happens to like girls and guys just like my canon shepard, it's true that he doesn't speak about hot guys but neither he does about hot girsl since he only talks about EDI (robot) and Ardak-Yakshi (murderous blue alien shemales) so they don't count imo.:D
Anyways, I love them both! and having more than one option to pick from even more!!!

I don't think so, Kaidan is 35 and Bioware.ru says that Steve is 33, although I don't know where did they got this info from. Elijah, where are you when we need you? :P

"Icky girls" was just a poke at Tiberis.   I know girls can be quite fun, but they just have something missing... ;)  no girl can be as fun as a hot man like Steve or Kaidan.

CA?!  Now I'm jealous in more ways!

"Married" in the legal sense, no we're not, there is even a state constitutional ammendment preventing it.    Emotionally "Married" yes.

I think all the characters are all well written.   I mean just look at what a few years in gaming did, in ME1 Kaidan was supposed to be bi but got understandably scared off.   Now in ME3 they have two gay characters --not bi-- gay and they even made Kaidan bi as per their original plan.   Not screaming from the rafters gay, just two normal humans who happen to be gay.   That is the greatest part I see about Steve and Trayner, and it is a testament to their writers that made these two characters human without resorting to gay stereotypes.

I don't mind that Kaidan is more reserved and shy about showing his feelings to mShep, he's always been shy and reserved (to either sex of Shepard) so it fits.  That part of his personality, at least partially, is he was planned to be bi in ME1.  That's just my opinion of course.   His background as a L2 and one of the first Human Biotics also plays a huge part in that personality

The reactions to Steve & Trayner have been better that I expected, sure the bigots are out there but in smaller force and seems to be more ignored this time than I think they would have been just a few years ago in ME1's release.

That --I hope-- speaks well of our future and to see more characters in games like Steve & Trayner.

+1 Same here, There was same sex marriage option in Skyrim - but only ME took it to the relationship level, where you can interact with your partner on a more emotional level. If you marry someone in Skyrim, they will move in with you follow you around and fight with you or cook meals for you (don't expect great conversations with them) Certainly you don't get those options in ME however I think the interation and the charachters themselves more than make up for it.
