I shed a tear the first time I saw that smile since I was so happy. Steve finally show up in a flashback and the blue tentacle monster is gone for good.

I was especially happy that they pulled off the smile animation well. Let's be honest. 99% of the time ME characters show teeth it looks awful or creepy (Shep's rape face anyone lol?). But Steve's smile looks absolutely perfect in the flashback!

I agree, they must have used  live reference models - doing facial animations in CGI is always difficult because human faces move in subtle ways - and we hardly realize it...as well as the fact that in CGI you can move things in ways that are impossible in the real world.

agree. When I look at Kaidan flashback it looks like he had something in his mouth and tries not to dropping it.

Hey now, be nice, Kaidan's is good, it's his classic reserved smile.   That's the worst thing about mShep+Kaidan is that the relationship feels so closeted compared to a Steve romance.   I'm glad they both feel different though.

This. 

They definitely pulled off the animation to make it look natural.  Even the subtle movement of his eyes too.  Very happy how it turned out.  Now here's to hoping they can continue to pull off the trend.

Hi guys

I hope you don't mind me crashing your forum. I'm lucky enough to complete my first Steve romance with the EC and I would have been gutted if I didn't have the flashback.

It's my third play through and I admit feeling really guilty cheating on Kaiden I almost didn't meet him in the cafe i was so worried he was going to declare his love only for me to say I'm just not into you after I had been flirting with him so openly in the hospital. Steve was worth the guilt though.

Dating Kaiden didn't really amount to much. I hated going to see him after a mission and him telling me about his expense reports. I go and see Steve and you get the feeling that they just want to jump each other all the time. "how am I supposed to concentrate with you hanging around" being my favourite line. Was happy to stop him concentrating - I am his commanding officer after all.

I had to destroy the reapers so that I could survive despite killing off EDI and my loyal Geth Primes. If Legion had still been around I may not have done that so easily. Is there a bromance Legion-Shep forum somewhere? Watching Legion die tears me up every time.

Any way going for the synthesis ending tonight. Can't wait to see EDI console Steve and have him play the widowed husband. Can't help but feel bad making him a widow again. I wonder who he loved most - Shep or Robert? You would have to think the saviour of the galaxy but who knows.

Actually Bioware should have Steve and Robert as characters in the Mass Effect prequels I've been hearing rumours about.

A new Steve fan appeared! Yeah, Steve got all the good Zaeed/Kasumi lines and I love it.
"I wonder who he loved most - Shep or Robert?" Nooo! That's cruel thing to say. One should never ask something like that!

I don't care how they did it devSin, it came out looking great! Very real and natural looking compared to some others. I know it's not easy and I don't fault them for some of the expressions not "coming off" right.

Steve's flashback looks great. Although I prefer Kaidan's, Steve's is still near the top of the pile.

I didn't think it was "dickish" I know nothing about how they do the animations, sounded like you do know how it's done.  

I just know that I like what they did with Steve there.  It may only be two seconds real-time but I'm sure it was hours of work.
