Anyone else planning to do this?

'cause I am :)

I want the last game in Shepard's story to be a full experience of ME3. With all the negative "reaper"cussions that come with it.

I think I am. I've become somewhat of an achievement hunter in my old age (as long as they're single player) and my canon Shep is a Soldier which made Insanity in ME 2 pretty easy.

So yeah, pretty sure I will.

Think I'll go Hardcore first actually. Leaving Insanity for second gives me some replayability.

Count me in. Will I regret it? Probably, but this the finale!

You have to beat game for insanity. In me1 you had to beat game. Then beat game on hardcore for insanity. In me2 you had to beat game.

BTW. They are saying mass effect 3 is much harder this time around.

I'll do what I did in ME2.

First Veteran, then Hardcore and then Insanity.

I think you may have to go through this order. Its a good idea and makes multiple playthroughs fun by making it more challenging.

I'm working on it now. Taking a break because the last few missions I have are just dialogue anyway--no combat, other than Reaper IFF and Legion's loyalty mission. Anyway, it's not too hard, and it gets easier as you progress.

Definetly Yes. I dont think that Insanity mode is ever going to be as hard as it is being painted by developers.

I wouldn't recommend it.

Combat has changed since ME2. The omni-blade, the cover mechanics, better enemy AI, etc. I'd recommend you try it at a lower setting initially to "get" the changes, then do an Insanity playthrough if you want to give it a shot.

Is it confirmed that you can play insanity from the get-go? Most games I've played you have to unlock the insanity or hardcore modes by beating the game on a lower setting first.

Just throwing that out there. I start on the highest setting possible too... but the highest might be locked

I'm reckless. We do have the demo to get accustomed to the changes though.

Pfft... Weak.
I'm a stubborn bastard and if I want to play on insanity, I WILL play on insanity.

I don't think it's ever been locked for Mass Effect.

I won't do it.

ME3 felt altered in many ways judging by the Sur'Kesh demo I played, so I'll take it easy and go with Veteran or something like it to get the right feel for it.

I will.

And I hope ME3's combat is as difficult as Gears'.

haha Priestly you know that by recommending against it you have virtually guaranteed people will do it just to be contrarians

i really hope insanity is locked and only unlocked by playthrough on novice or with a hidden .ini setting. Will keep the complainers down, who just HAVE to select the highest diff setting and then leave frustrated.

PS all Bioware games are very easy(except BG1/2) Have yet to play on anything but insanity..

In mass effect 1.Starting DifficultyEdit

On new profile, a player can choose amongst three difficulty settings:

Casual - All enemies, including bosses, are scaled down relative to the player's level. Most enemies have no special protection or immunities.
Normal - Bosses scaled up based on the player's level. Some enemies have special protection.
Veteran - Bosses and sub-bosses scaled up based on player level. Most enemies have special protection.

After finishing a playthrough on any of the above difficulties, the Hardcore difficulty will be unlocked. After hardcore insanity is unlocked.

ME2 you can do insanity whenever. (was wrong, just checked)
