I was waiting for this.

And I'm serious.

You'll see in few days after ME3 Demo is out me LP-ing all 6 classes in Insanity.

Don't except for me to fail any of it, but Vanguard.

I tried that with ME2 and got stuck on the final boss.

Combat has changed since ME2. The omni-blade, the cover mechanics, better enemy AI, etc. I'd recommend you try it at a lower setting initially to "get" the changes, then do an Insanity playthrough if you want to give it a shot.

Take Priestly's advice

Start the game on Insanity, if you are a proud gamer, not afraid of a challenge.

Even bigger challenge:

Complete the game with just a Predator pistol. On Insanity.

I never do my first playthroughs on the hardest difficulty  but I'll be making an exception for ME3. I, as a player, want to feel the difficulty and frustration that Shepard is feeling when fighting the Reapers. It wouldn't feel like the final and epic conclusion if I 'm able to blast my way through every fight with ease.

Well, if most encounters will be as difficult as that Krogan Battlemaster fight on Therum in ME1, i bet you will lose that challenge. :) Bioware CAN make difficult games, if they want to. :D

Nay, the best I could do was hard, I think I'll stick with that for my first playthrough.

I don't call cheap CPU advantages on higher difficulties challenging.

I was planning to do my first playthrough on Hardcore, and bumping up to Insanity if I felt like I could handle it, but then I decided that was backwards. I'll start with Insanity. I can always lower the difficulty later if need be.

This may be the geekiest thing I have ever posted on BSN but... anybody else getting that 300 vibe from this thread?

Priestly: No, it's too hard. You need to slow down! Get a feel for it.
BSN: Priestly what is your profession?
Priestly: Game designer, I thought that was obvious since I work for Bio-
BSN: Game designer. GAMERS! WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION!?!?!
BSN: AOOO! AOOO! AOOO!

No? Just me? I'm about to have a kid so go easy on me.

That fight wasn't difficult.  That fight was cheap.

If you spammed the right CC's at the right time and made sure you had a durable squad then you were fine, but if you took a split second too long to knock the Battlemaster on his butt or missed a refresh on Sabotage and Damping you were screwed.

It was a poorly designed fight more than it was a difficult fight.

Basically what chris said. I'm still going to try it, whether or not it starts to resemble a dark souls playthrough. If it gets too ridiculous, I'll tone it down. Otherwise...

I AM DEATH INCARNATE!

Insanity in ME 1 was the only moment in my history of playing video games where I honestly felt the picking the heavy armor/high damage class was the sure way to a quick death. Adept Shep, Wrex and Kaiden was my most recent insanity run and that group dominated simply because I had three throws, two stasis, one singularity, two lifts and a couple of warps to keep enemies occupied. Crowd control was the name of the game in ME 1. Fights took forever but nobody got anywhere near me.

I'm playing my first run on insanity. I find it helps add to the suspense and intensity of the game and story experience. Definitely worth it :D

I like that you are saying this. It gives me hope that Insanity will actually be a rediculous challenge. First two games I did Insanity without the use of medigel/unity/grenades/heavy weapons. I'm going to try and go for that formula again. I hope this game makes me actually break down and use that stuff. If so I will shed tears of joy. If you actually Make me drop down to hardcore I will name my first born child Bioware. GAME ON.
