Combat has changed since ME2. The omni-blade, the cover mechanics, better enemy AI, etc. I'd recommend you try it at a lower setting initially to "get" the changes, then do an Insanity playthrough if you want to give it a shot.

Are you serious ? I have just watched the demo you played at IGDA and the AI is so slowwwwww I could have done the mission in my sleep, so far I am not impressed.

I certainly hope that demo was on casual

All the Beta vids I've seen have been on Casual, if anything normal.  Don't expect the vid showings to be anything too difficult.

What is the medium difficult again? Hardcore? Veteran? I forget which is the 3 out of 5 .. but that is the one I will do first to learn all the differences.

ME2 on Insanity isn't so insane after your 8th playthrough. :)

No. It wouldn't be fun for me. The first time through I want to get my bearings, figure out how the game works, what to expect, etc. Insanity is always for replays for me. I choose a much lower difficulty for my first playthrough.

If possible , insanity will be my first run. But I doubt that the difficult match something like Ninja Gaiden II - Master Ninja on 360 (with all ToV complete)

Definitely playing on insanity at first for SP. Although I will likely be pulling my hair out, it's faster than playing a normal/hard playthrough and then getting used to insanity later. Plus I think my religious Adept play and mastery of ME2 insanity mode should give me a leg up this time around.

As for MP i'm going to start on normal since its better to learn the ropes first.

Having read this, I wonder (unless MP will be an unlockable) if it'd be better to play on Insanity? I know the S/MP experiences will be different; however, I do wonder how much the difficulty setting is tweaked for them being two different games.

I ask because even though ME is a totally different game, I laso have some fighting titles that I play as well (DOA4 for example)

In this game, the story mode is set up, so the AI increases in difficulty as you progress. However, when you play the survival modes (tag = MP essentially), I have found that the Tag (MP) mode is "easier", than the Solo (SP) mode and I know because the first 5-10 opponents are "difficult." Whereas with Tag (MP), I can get through 3-4x that before the ante is uped. (This has difficulty settings as well. Regardless of mode, I play on Normal)

As I said, it's a totally different game; however, I think that if you're going to attempt to tackle Insanity on your first run, you'll be able to if you play MP enough. This way, you won't feel as if you sacrificed story. Note, I didn't say that you'd breeze through once you come to grips with the setting; however, you won't go into the SP experience and be sppouting off expletives as you'll know how to react to everything!

Having said this, I'll probably jumped straight into Insanity myself enabling myself to be immersed in story and gameplay!

Nah, in my first playthrough I want to enjoy the story and in Insanity I will die so much it will frustate me and my game experience.

I'll play Insanity only when I have total contol of the game engine.

Even bigger challenge:

Complete the game with just a Predator pistol. On Insanity.

We're definitely gonna need a Custom Challenge thread once the game comes out.

And to add to that challenge, do it without upgrading ANY powers or armor

I'll start on Insanity but turn down the difficulty if frustration starts getting in the way of enjoying the story.

Generally speaking, the way enemies get harder is they just get more HP.

Like DA:O boss fights with 6 billion hp aren't really hard once you work out the system to beat them, they're just tedious.

LOL!

I like your enthusiasm.

haha.. This also made me chortle.

I would like to say I could do an Insanity first up.. but I think I will do a Verteran first, followed by a Hardcore/Insanity mix, then full Insanity.

Can't wait!

I spent a half hour kiting the Harvester with my Mage on Hardcore.

Beat the game using only Charge. A true Vanguard would accept that challenge and then would feel dishonored as im sure the game isnt built for that lmao.

I beat Mass Effect 2 in 28 hours on Insanity in one gigantic run. I seriously doubt this will pose a problem. I'm generally up to the task of difficult games. That and I'm familiar with shooters in general.

I will heed your warning, but the same thing was said for me2, and regardless I'm using the same 'first-time-through-on-insanity-tank/dps-soldier-with-sniper' build.

I prefer Tactical Vanguard.  I feel Charge to be a buffer zone to "Todays forecast, clear skies with a chance of artillery and shotgun spray."

Yes. I'll probably put one up on March 6th.

I may but I don't plan to do a full run right away. Due to how they often handle bonus powers and all that, ME1 and ME2 has always been a 'due a few half-runs to get stuff' before I do my actual run through. Plus im curious how there fresh start stuff handles.

I mean it just kinda... doesn't feel like the complete thing till you get the full bonus power list to do. So... I dunno though I may import my main Vanguard and just go at that for awhile anyways, maybe start up some side ones to get the other bonus powers once I get him to that point.

Either way I always start on hardest diff when I plan to do a straight run through of any game. It's a rule I have, turn it down if I can't stand the gameplay. That wont happen with ME3.

Whichever difficulty is the most "fair" (right now I'm thinking that'll be Normal). If two shots can wipe Shepard out, Shepard should be able to wipe everyone else out (that's footsoldier) in the same manner.

I was planning on doing my first run on Hardcore; but that's based largely on my impression of the difficulty levels of ME2.

Do you think Hardcore would be a good; but not frustrating place for an ME2 Insanity player to start out?  Or would you reccomend knocking it back to Veteran?

Insanity. Haven't decided the class yet. If I can have access to the Claymore and reload trick pronto I'll probably roll with a Vanguard first. If not I'll probably play an Adept or Sentinel.
