Short of enemy AI improvements there really isn't much to this shooter genre I haven't already seen. Starting on insanity.

I wouldn't recommend it.
Combat has changed since ME2. The omni-blade, the cover mechanics, better enemy AI, etc. I'd recommend you try it at a lower setting initially to "get" the changes, then do an Insanity playthrough if you want to give it a shot.

I thought the Zerg campaign was difficult too. Found that it was simple enough to build ground and air defenses while spamming hydralisks but I don't know how else I could take down the large bases, all of which seemed to be producing non-stop.

The memories of that last mission of the Brood War zerg campaign... how many times did I try that mission? Slowly grinding away at their bases only to run out of minerals.

There's no way I'll be trying insanity for my first PT, I'll be going with veteran. It's the story that matters the most to me, being constantly killed off while getting to grips with an insanity PT would be too immersion breaking for me.

Nah. I don't want any rage on my first playthrough. I just want to experience the story come to a close. Many other playthroughs will be Insanity though. Once you get the hang of the difficulty it becomes the most fun mode...

I have a hard enough time beating me 2 on hardcore I dont want to touch insanity. I am more into the story anyway. I will likely play in story mode
