I thought Kelly was all right, but I never was really that fond of her.  She just seemed to have as much depth as a puddle, sadly.  Just wasn't a lot of dimension to her.  It's not anyone's fault, necessarily; she just didn't have much development time.  I think Bioware got a lot of complaints about her, tbh.

So they fixed our (I hate to use this word...) sexetary and gave us Sam instead.  Between the writing and the voice acting, she's awesome.  I do wish they'd expanded her interactions, but after the reception Kelly had, I can see why they didn't.

I would like to thank Patrick Weekes and Alix Wilton Regan (I've already done so on Twitter, matter of fact) for making Sam so incredible.

The above statements may or may not be influenced by my feelings toward RP English accents and the actress that I think might have been the inspiration for Sam Traynor, Parminder Nagra, is awesome.  (I've no idea if that's who was an influence or not...)

At first...the voice is kinda cute. The next playthroughs...I developed a strong urge to strangle her. She just talks too much and tries too hard to play cool with that phoney accent.

Okay finished the Samantha playthrough.

"Nice to see a woman under all that armor."

I think the thing I liked best about the Samantha romance is how confident femshep is during the mission to the point of joking around w/ her and even giving morale support. Then during cabin scene femshep can display vulnerability, the most in any of the romances. As for Samantha herself I like how she grows as a person, but retains a certain normalcy. She's not a soldier, (even if she can analyze the crap out of data), but a very real person. She's someone to come home to.

"Bollocks."

Samantha also more than made up for not being able to romance Ser Cauthrien in DA:O. As to Sam vs Kelly, it's apples and oranges to me. I liked Kelly, but always got the feeling TIM put her on board more as a distraction for Shep than anything else.

Traynor: Strip chess later?
Shepard: But you always win.
Traynor: Exactly.

Not phoney.  At least, her voice actress went to the right schools to acquire that sort of accent honestly.

Though in character I guess it's not necessarily what you'd expect Samantha to have developed on a frontier colony.  She probably picked it up at Oxford.

Parents were from London as well.  And who's to say what colony life was like?  Could've been a bunch of Londoners together on the colony.  Judging from human nature, we tend to stick with what's familiar, so it's not a huge stretch.

As for the voice actress, she's actually from London.  That being said, not many people speak with an RP English accent on a daily basis.  However, I don't think she sounded fake at all.  I've seen her VA in a couple of movies and heard what she sounds like normally.  It's not a huge difference, really.

came up w/random dialogue between Liara and Samantha as to why we never see Traynor on the Citadel or on a date with Shepard:

Liara: So, Samantha, why is it that you are never on the Citadel when Shepard wants to talk to you?
Samantha: I-i just do not think going on a date w/Shepard is a good idea right now.
Liara: what do you mean?
Samantha: it is just, we are in the middle of a war and-i can see you are not going to accept this as an answer so, even though i am confident in my sexuality, i just do not want many people knowing it.
Liara: ah, okay then.
Samantha: i am going to get back to work. *leaves Liara's quarters to get back to work*

Same thing happend w/ Lelaina. So many people commented on her "fake" french accent, but the actress (Corinne Kempa) is French.  More times than not if an actor is sporting an accent in a BW game, it's authentic.  That doesn't mean they don't "put on" a bit though.

While Sam's OK, Kelly is the only character who has an actual emotional reaction to the reapers. She can't join you on the Normandy due to nightmares. She's also one of the romances who seem real for someone in the military - that she recognizes she can't be with her partner until the war is finished over. Just like most soldiers in every war.

When Kelly talked about that with my Femshep, that really hit home the consequences of the war. That my femshep could not seriously date until people stopped dying every second. Femshep has to put her happiness behind other people's.

That to me is way more depth than Sam has, who seems just put in there so femshep can have a romantic liason while out fighting... which just seems kindof weird to me. The Normandy is not a loveboat, and it's only the 'shafted' ME2 romances which seem to recognize this, Kelly included.

I do feel like an actual relationship was developed with Traynor.  There are a lot of "conversations" that Shepard can have with her, even if they are of the auto-conversation type. Traynor has the majority of my favourite quotations from the game including:

"I'm a military officer on a military ship, so oorah, Commander.  Let's blow them to hell."

"Just never thought I'd see a woman under all that armour."

"So suck it up, princess.  You're in the military now, and you're going to win this for us."

And especially:

"Whatever happens - I love you.  Now, go save the world... again."

That whole interaction with Traynor before leaving for Earth had me in tears.  I thought it was very well done.  I felt that the relationship got rather personal with the interactions in between missions.  Her hatred for Cerberus and her developing hatred for the Reapers (going from "I wanted to see them defeated" to "I wanted to see them blown up") was very interesting to take part in.

Finished my Samancer playthrough as well.  I agree 100% with Flyers215 and JamieOTC.

I withdraw my complaints about Sam not receiving a final conversation with Shepard in London (via the communications officer).  Her final scene on the Normandy exceeded my expectations.  I would rank it right up there with Garrus' as the most touching romantic moments.

ME3 needs MOAR Traynor.

I don't know what Garrus' is like, but Traynor last conversation is pretty tear-jerking.  I was caught off-guard the first time too.  I wasn't expecting that little pep talk, but I was super charged to fight on Earth once I got there.  I want that house, white picket fence, dog, and two kids. :P

Indeed, I found myself wanting the same, with Sam.  I suppose I could relate to those more.  Mainly because Samantha is human after all, and those things are, you know, attainable goals in real life.

Garrus talks about settling down with FemShep, and perhaps adopt a baby krogan.  Liara's "little blue children" runs along the same lines.  And I guess for those Talimancers, they have the "house on Rannoch" bit.

Although I don't personally have a problem with homosexuallity in Mass Effect, I personally would have liked to have romanced her with the male character as well.

I concur.

I love how emotional FemShep is around Sam during the cabin scene, and Traynor shows her stronger side as well. The moment she called my Alex "princess", I was completely sold.
And her flirty comments during small convos (especially Vancouver bit) made me smile like crazy out of adoration. ^_^

I normally play through ME as Sheploo for my first, and usually second, play throughs.  Sam wouldn't fit with a male Shep quite as well as she did w/ Femshep.  Having played through this going on my fourth time now, (hooray for being my own boss!) I'd have to respectfully disagree with you.  I'm not averse to letting Femshep have one same sex partner to herself (Liara doesn't really count, being an alien... and Allers doesn't count at all), since male Shep could have either Kaidan or Cortez.

Funnily enough, I was almost expecting Cortez and Vega to hook up at various points.  I mean, they spent all their time together down in the cargo bay....

lol me too.  I was waiting for them to announce their relationship to the crew, especially since there's no way for me to romance Cortez or James.  It all just seemed to fit.  I'm sure Cortez liked it when James called him Esteban.

Ohh wow!

I just did the goodbye talk with Traynor and it is wonderful. Her romance completely blew me away. As others have mentioned, I love being able to see a softer side to my FemShep and how emotional it was. Will absolutely romance Samantha again with a new FemShep one day.

Traynor was one of the best characters. Someone who had an actual hobby, and actual quirks (toothbrush).

I'm glad Alix has found success with BW as a VA too. I think this is one of her biggest parts. (Se did quite a bit of DA minor characters)

What do you, guys, think is Traynor's origin? She is very dark-skinned, but her surname is very British. South-Asian roots on her mother's side?

ec dlc with femshep and sam enjoy

5 weeks after reapers are destroyed shep looks at sam
shep: sam I've been here for weeks and you won't tell me where were at or anything even worse you ignore my advancements. Do you not want me anymore?
sam: lisa I want nothing more than to have my way with you but as I keep telling you not in your condition.
shep: that all you've been saying and its waring thin on my patience.
sam: OK. I will tell you but its going to be very emothional for you and you will need this.(hands shep a box of tissues)
sam takes sheps hand and leads her upstairs to the roof where shep starts to take in what has happened. She realizes its London seeing big ben. At the same time sees the aftermath of what the reapers have done, and seeing alot of reaper corpses. she sees people slowly trying to cean up and start again. A wave of tears overcomes her. she turns around and cries on sams shouledrs for few minutes. She finally gathers herself.
sam: this is only London.By reports nearly 94% of major cities have the same result. According to the alliance earth lost nearly 40% of its popoulation and expected to climb. The way one person said it was that if there 100 organics in the galaxy 70% is gone. Thessia took the worst with approx, 90% gone.( shep sits down and cries for nearly 10 minutes)
shep: what about the normandy?
sam To my understanding all crew are accounted for.
shep: You were not with them.
sam No. I left the ship with Dr.Chadwas in the shuttle to rescue you.
shep: I don't understand?
sam: Hackett called a full retreat of all fleets to nearest relay after nothing was happening with the crucible. When joker went to pick up your squadmates I rushed to the shuttle with a few weapons and a suit of armor with Dr. Chadwas in tow.The cargo door opened and left the mormandy. After the normandy left I looked around for you.I looked up and saw a flash of red in the sky. As I was head ing towards the citadel I saw giant explosions and started crying thinking you were gone.I made it up there and after a few minutes found you. I carried you back to the shuttle. I turned around and saw another body further away. It was anderson. We took the shuttle back to London where DR. Chadwas worked on you and anderson.
shep:(lisa was crying and than took sam and kissed her)
sam: we kept you under for 5 days so that your body can heal itself. Anderson is still recovering  and he's doing well. Also only me and Dr. Chadwas know you are alive.
shep: why? is it because of my condition or is it more to it.
sam:lisa it was my call not let anyone know because I wanted to let you rest and fully recover.
shep:Your my hero sam, willing to give up your life like that.
sam:You are my future lisa plus it gave me chance to where this armor.
shep what does BAG mean that you have on the chestplate
sam: (smiling) bad a** geek ( shep laughing and crying at the sametime)
shep: now about this condition I have?
sam: am surprised you haven't figured it out yet. Think about lisa, sickness in the morning, eating more than usual, feeling tired alot(shep still looking confused) .Remember after the thessia mission what we did?(sheps eyes popped wide open with abig smile)
shep:you mean am pregnant(sam smiling and nodding) when did you find out.
sam: a few hours after you left for earth. that's not the only thing(handed shep 2 pics from ultrasound) these were given to me 2 days ago
shep:(with tears of joy) why 2 pics? twins?(sam nodding)
sam: lisa would you stand up for me(shep stands up while sam gets on one knee) lisa shepard will you marry me?
shep( looks down with tears at sam and the huge diamond ring) you bet your a** I do
sam: I picked out a house with a white picket fence with 6 bedrooms on 10 acres on the west coast of Vancouver island if that will work for you(shep still trying to compose herself)enough of that. Didn't you say that you had needs to be satisfied?
shep:yes I do
sam (opens the door and shep sees shaving cream and a razor, a can of whipped cream and a costume)what do you think?
shep: you are asick, twisted, pervert and I can't believe am marrying you.(smiling)
sam:remember you make blush but I make you sing. By the way the costume is of little red riding hood.

5months later at there house you see anderson walking shepard down the isle with all the crew of the normandy onhand as well as the media from the galaxy.

20 yrs later with sam and shep in the backyard
shep:well sam since you're carring twins we are going to think of names for them
sam: well lets see the twins we have lisa and sam, then there is ashley, liara, miranda, gabby, and karin
shep: tali and samara would work.
sam: lisa do you have any regrets?
shep:(smiling) yes, 2 of them first is when I first met you I had to contain mysel ffrom throwing you on the bed and second with all the things we did to each other I had to buy a book to keep up with you(laughing)
sam:(laughing) like I said you make me blush and I make you sing. Well anyways heres to 20 yrs and for 20 more
shep: yhank you sam for giving me the life I thought was not possible. I love you(sam grabs shep for long kiss)

hope you enjoy I know its a little long

I've spent a fair amount of time over in India, and some in the UK, and I can easily tell that she is obviously of Indian decent, and typical of the high intelligence and dark beauty that Indian women have when they are not restrained by male dominated class systems, a poor economy and stuck in the most densely populated areas on the planet. She reminds me a couple Indian girls I had some, um, good times with!
