Yeah I think Traynor does pick up the adorkable role that Liara left behind as she became more confident. I love how Traynor is crap at taking a compliment and how she started rambling when she first met Shep. But she got more confident as she got to know Shepard, even to the point of teasing her which I liked.
She definitely gets more confident as the game progresses, yeah. For example, I just played chess with her. Now, if you aren't locked in a romance with anyone you can either offer her the use of your shower or make a (bit snide) comment about chess. I was already locked in a romance with Liara, however, and this time choosing the paragon option resulted in an impressive bluff from Traynor. She would
not have done that in the beginning of the game.
There wasn't as much room for character development as there was in the previous games, but I think they handled Traynor's character quite well. Friend or lover; Samantha is great.
