A game that allows humans to have their heads turned into must or their bodies into bloody chunks has a full grown woman take a shower in her underwear. Riiight.

I think it's understandable from BioWare point of view, especially after the controversy the first Mass Effect game generated with its sex scenes. But I agree that it does look strange.

Then again, Traynor wanted to seduce Shepard. She could've showered naked, but maybe she thought lingerie was more enticing. I can't blame her.

I didn't really have a problem with Sam showering in her underwear (sure, it would've made much more sense if BioWare implied that she was naked, and tastefully covered it up. I'm thinking...lots of steam). I had more of an issue with Shepard strolling into the shower, fully clothed. Again, like themikefest said, it would make (a lot) more sense if Shepard was shown shedding her clothes on the way to the shower.

According to my brother, Liara's romance scene includes a bare chest, so I'm not sure how Traynor being naked would spark any controversy that Liara doesn't.

Also, I'm not a big fan of nudity in video games (or movies for that matter).  I usually feel that it is just used to show skin rather than have a purpose.  The strange push and pull of showing skin and going out of your way to avoid showing skin could easily be avoided by camera direction.  In the context of Traynor's romance scene, it's very bizarre that she would shower fully clothed.  As BioWare, the scene could've just depicted Traynor showering from the neck down.  When Shepard walks over into the shower, she could block the viewer's line of sight from seeing anything as she holds Traynor up against the shower wall.  Shepard should also disrobe to some extent rather than just going into a shower with an N7 hoodie on.  It takes away from the natural feel of the scene to show them showering in clothing.

Traynor could've also done what one of my ex-girlfriend's did.  She could take the shower while Shepard & Traynor talked and then walk out of the shower in a robe or towel after Shepard says "Oh, she's interested *sexy face*".  As Shepard sits in her chair, Traynor could walk over to her, stand in front of Shepard, and remove the towel/robe while the camera views Traynor's back.  This would avoid showing off any of Traynor's goodies while maintaining a more realistic scene.

P.S. Great piece, Valore.  I really enjoyed that.  I'll write another one sometime.  It's been a while since I've been working on an original Mass Effect piece with my own character.

i may end up going for Kelly Chambers in the end, if only due to the fact that she is the only chance of a happy ending for lesbian Shepard. i still like Traynor, but the ending makes it difficult/impossible for a relationship between the two working out.

i do not know, based on the fact that all tech was based on what the protheans left, which in turn was left by the reapers. it would take years/decades/centuries for Shepard to find her beloved Traynor again, and then it might be too late. at least with Kelly, if the endings are real (which they most likely are ,sadly) Shepard would have her love interest nearby and could visit her whenever...

I wouldn't have had a problem with Shepard dying if it wasn't for the whole last ten minutes.  Worst. Writing. Ever.  You don't introduce a completely new plot in the last portion of a story, it's just horrible writing.

And there is no way IN HELL that Shepard would've taken what the little Starbrat said without questioning it like s/he did.  That's so out of character, it makes my brain hurt.

That's why I think Bioware has something up their sleeve.  They've never written such utter nonsensical crap before, why would they start now?

I think I actually saw one of Liara's nipples during the romance scene, although it was only visible for a second. So okay, maybe BioWare did include some nudity, but I think they just want to play it safe most of the time.

And I think the first romance scene with Traynor would've been a lot better if they did it as you describe in your post. Although I wouldn't let Shepard sit on her chair and Traynor removing the towel herself. Instead, Shepard should walk up to Traynor, kiss her and remove the towel herself. The screen can then cut to them lying on the bed, smoking a cigarette.

Bioware has been very quiet about any thing  to do with ec(not sure if good or bad)and no rellease date yet, I do also beleive they may have something big up their sleeve.

I really didn't have a problem with it other than the part with the Normandy.  Everything else was explained and made sense.  Shepard was told that she had to make a choice, so she did.  The end.

Either way, we'll both just have to wait and see what BioWare's cooking up in Edmonton.
