the only suggestion I can give would be to have sam and femshep somehow deactivate the robot keeping edi contained within the ship

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that wouldn't happen. Neither Shepard nor Sam would ever do that.

For that matter, EDI and Liara and Joker wouldn't do that either.

But that's just my two cents.

Sam: Shepard my love, calm down
Shepard: CALM DOWN! YOU SHOULD BE GETTING UPSET! OUR PRIVATE LIFE IS JUST THAT, PRIVATE!!!
Sam: Dear, i am angry, but shouting is not going to help the situation.
Shepard: right, sorry, i just lose my cool when things like this happen.
Sam: it is alright. now, lets get off this ship and go somewhere nice. you could do all sorts of things to me then...
Shepard: Dear i love the way you think...
*Shepard and Sam leave to spend some time together*

Liara: ..., Joker and EDI may have done it as a joke, since it was posted from the bridge from Joker's electonic mail account.
Shepard: WHAT?! I THOUGHT EDI CARED FOR MY PRIVACY!!!
Sam: Shepard, dear. *squeesing Shepard's hand*
Shepard: You are right, sorry.

*Three minutes later*
Joker: huh? oh, hi Sammie, Commander, what's up
Sam: you know very well what's up Lieutenant Moreau. *glaring at Joker*
Joker: but i-what i meanis-oh fine. yes, EDI and i posted that vid of you two onto the extranet.
EDI: it was only meant as a joke, and to help you  two become more of a couple
Shepard: You know what i do to people who mess with me Joker...
Joker: oh [joker's favorite curse word] *Shepard punches Joker in the face, giving him a black eye. then breaks his legs*
Sam: *while walking away* Wasn't that a little excessive, dear?
Shepard: Maybe....

Sam: so, what will we do to EDI?
Shepard: I was angry at Joker, but EDI, she made a simple mistake. she recorded us making love.
Sam: what are you talking about?
Shepard: i decided to lock her out of any video and audio recording in our cabin.
Sam: i like the sound of that.*kisses Shepard on the lips*

I'm not completely sure that ideas like IT are right but there are way, way to many plot holes for the "ending" to be taken at face value.

One quick example:

The last scene before the Citadel stuff.  As you are starting your run down to the beam, if you look to the right and behind you, you can see your second team mate.  If you follow him, he gets hit by the Harbingers beam.

Then later during the "on the planet after the crash scene", that same team mate will exit the Normandy...

More is going on then what meets the eye...


Anyways back on the Forum Topic.

The Samantha Romance is hands down the best romance in the Mass Effect Trilogy.  Awesome writing and some true heart was put into it.  Seeing that final goodbye between Samantha and Shepard, wow, brought a tear to my eye.

Now on to write my version of the EC, while we wait for Biowares!

I,ve played through over 20 x and each time when running to the beam, I run backwards and noticed that my squadmates stay back at where the slop starts.So maybe its one of those wtf.
As you say back to sam. Yes I adore the romance, biggest complaint is when femshep walks to the shower with clothes on, when she could of undress as she s walking to the shower

I'm not sure I understand the question.  Do you mean why is Valerie with her?

If so, then I'd say because Sam is just awesome.  She's smart, she's talented, she's independent, she's got a good heart, a good sense of humour, and she's quite pretty.  She's pretty much perfect.  On top of all that, she understands Shepard's problems and makes her feel better about all the stress and struggles of being Commander Shepard during the Reaper invasion.  Sam comforts her and is there for her, which is something that my Shepard really needs as she struggles to balance saving as many lives as she can.

^this, in a nutshell.  Sam is just gorram perfect.

Completely agree with Flyers.
I'll just add one more thing to the list:

She gives Shepard the hope.  A hope of a life outside the war she's been fighting for the past three years.  A big house, two kids, and a dog...  That is a life worth fighting for in my Shepard's eyes and Samantha is the hope that fuels that fight.
