Now you are just making me want to have Sam around as a squadmate for a few missions (though, in a way, I do like that our girl is non-combative).

i agree, i like that she does not fight, but i would like to have her for a mission or two.

it would be nice to have her on a mission though it would be distracting for my femshep. I would be thinking more of a romance dlc(which may never happen) where femshep helps sam search for her parents. That would be a very satisfying mission for both with a good outcome.

Ah, come on fellas, putting Sam into the field makes very little sense. It does not fit her mission role, it does not fit her character. You wouldn't take her groundside any more than you would Ken/Gabby, Adams, or Kelly. Let's be real here.

I do think Sam should have been given more lines that belonged to Steve. Throughout the course of the game, I noticed Cortez had a lot of tactical intel. Granted, he's more or less on-site where Shepard is (whereas Traynor is in orbit), but Sam is the comms specialist. I think she should've been given the expanded role of mission support.

That would have been a really nice touch.

I was pleasantly surprised when she had something to say about geth jamming towers when Shep was groundside on the final Rannoch mission.

The game could have used more instances like that.

Joking aside, Traynor must have done basic training so she would at least know how to fire a gun and I imagine she'd have a few tech skills up her sleeve. I'm not really seeing any sensible reason for her to go on a mission. But if she were on the Normandy or the Citadel and the solid waste excretion hit the ventilation system, I think she'd be able to help with the fighting. For her powers I'd give her: decoy, sabotage and maybe tactical scan (from multiplayer).

Look, I'm a guy - but I recognize the fact that FemShep gets thoroughly cheated in the romance-options department.  MaleShep does not need another LI.  I 100% support the decision of making Traynor a FemShep-exclusive LI.  Plus, I do enjoy the fact that Traynor is a total bro (or the female equivalent) to MaleShep, especially during game night.

Technically, this is true. She is at least interested in men, however, as a FShep, you never get the opportunity to try and hit on her. Depending on your point of view, this could be taken as proof that she's strictly straight, or just a missed opportunity to find out if she's into women as well.

As for Sam going on missions, no thanks. She's very good at what she does aboard the Normandy and I don't know who would fill in as comm specialist in her absence (concievably Joker since any messages that get passed to you when you're off-ship come from him anyway- particularly in ME). I do want to be able to meet up with her on the Citadel a couple of times like you can with Cortez.

Nicely written.  I do like the tension you're building up at the end of the chapter.  Sam is rather....ahem, in need of some release soon, eh?
