Kaidan had unused s/s romance dialogue in ME1.

No, he didn't.

This has been discussed at length on the s/s thread. Hale and Meer were both playing Shepard and to make sure that each was paid the same for the same work they literally did the same work. Hale read ALL the Shepard dialog, even the male lines. Meer read ALL the Shepard dialog, even the female lines.

Is that why Harkin has this dialogue with Sheploo?

Indeed.

Which explains why Kaidan has no voiced dialog whatsoever referring to male Shepard in a romantic context.

They never planned S/S with Kaidan or Ashley. Period.

Just so long as they make the continuation of romances MEANINGFUL, I'll be beyond happy. If they just kinda brush jack under the rug with a cheap generic story, I SWEAR, I WILL.... I WILL.... CALL SHENANIGANS!!!

my Shepard wouldn't be consistent unless he sought out multiple lovers in each game. Ashley, Liara, Miranda, Jack, and Kelly have all been seduced and subsequently replaced. The cycle must continue!!

They're for the people who are newcomers to the mass effect series. The same reason why ME2 also had new romances.

no offense to any s/s supporters this is just my opinion and can be ignored

i'm worried bw is going to torture straight gamers with new characters, because of no s/s romances in the first game. i dont want to see straight character suddenly turn gay because of demand.

Introducing new romances where there are already 9 waiting for proper conclusions in asinine. Why not just open old ones to S/S romance?

I think this is mostly what Bioware means when they say "new romances".

Maybe I don't like any of the old romance options?

Maybe Bioware doesn't want to force a player to deal with an "old" romance for new players?

Hey, they can make homosexual relationships without suddenly turning everyone bi.

Maybe it's just good old fanservice.

A "straight" character admitting to liking the same sex =/= gay

IT'S CALLED BEING BISEXUAL

We don't know anything about these characters sexuality other than what they've told us.

Garrus admitted to banging a woman back in his military days. She may have been the only woman he's slept with and all the other sex he's had has been with other men, she could have been the only person he's slept with (apart from FShep if romanced), he could have been that turian ship's bicycle (i.e. everyone's had a ride), we don't know.

The only person I can recall who's expressed a preference is Jack

Yeah, simple reason being what if you didn't like the old ones? Not the Shepardstalking alien, or the religious xenophobe, or the Cerberus lover, or the serial killer or the one whose face you can't see...for instance.

BW made characters that were s/s only.  they would ****** off alot of fans if they suddenly turned every previous squadmate bi lol
