I think it takes about 3 main missions worth of time for they to come back, plus additional obstacle which im not discussing here.

I hope that isn't a lot of game time, I really wanted to use Kaidan/Ashley for the entire game.

It mentions ashley and kaidan both being soldiers sharing the same basic abilities. I think/hope he's wrong as kaiden should have biotics.

I think ME3's intro surpasses ME2's intro in every way possible.

It has tension, action, emotion and best of all, it's not overstaying its welcome like ME2's intro did all the goddamn time.

I'd have to agree. From what i've seen via Beta leaks and demos the scale of ME3's opening feels like it's been upped massively. ME2's beginning was very personal to Shepard, however ME3's opening feels like it's effecting the entire galaxy which I think is the exact note Bioware need to hit,

what bugged me about the article is the guy said the opening was bad.......

i saw a total of 6 videos from the leaked beta and i have tosay the whole earth reaper deal was very well executed.

im not one of those gamers who usually tear up but the kid in the vent did get to me

Its about 40% of the main game if you skip all the side missions.

How much does that comeback last? I don't want him/her coming back at the end of the game. I want Kaidan as one of my most used squadmates in ME3. Does she/he come back after one mission, two missions?

He has enough screen time for the Collector's Edition to come with a bonus outfit.  Cameo characters don't get bonus outfits.

Come on, logic, people.  Even if you DIDN'T read any spoilers, you'd know "VS dies in first mission" is BS.

That would be so weird if they killed off the VS in the first mission. I mean seriously, can you imagine that? Just randomly killing them off for no reason at all at the start of the game? everyone would just be like "Right okay then... well that's a bit weird" :L

Wonderful... I don't suppose they come back if you do enough side missions?

The Kaidan/Ashley dieing in the first mission is being beleived because Bioware DID hype up one character, and killed her after 1 (yes ONE) mission (Mhairi from Dragon Age: Awakening).

Interesting story, tho...

I personaly think that the article is made up. We all know that shepard is on trial for what happened in Arrival DLC not tbecause he was working with cerberus. So that statement in which he states that shepard is on trial because of working with cerberus is false,

Oh, that reminded me of "Just give me a moment" girl in Awakenings, I had a hard time not giggling every time I went to speak with her! =]

Warning. Spoiler Alert

I've seen the leaked Beta footage. (I haven't seen the leaked script, because I'm avoiding that like the plague). The footage looked cool. About James Vega. He seems cool. Love the fact that Freddy Prinze Junior was having fun, but so far I haven't seen much from the guy. Perhaps he'll become an amazing character. Lots of amazing stuff said about him, but videos show typical cinematic soldier being, typical soldier.

Great atmosphere, and sure not much of an opening cinematic, but once Shepard gets out of the building explosions everywhere!!! Shame to let Canada's prettiest city get destroyed...

Probably leaving Anderson behind counts as one this time. Because all of them (bioware's tradition) died in the intro.

Dude.  Omigod.  ME3 is the first game to break that tradition.

Niiiiiice.

Apparently a huge-ass Reaper invasion on Earth isn't exciting enough.

Also, he thinks James Vega is boring. His opinion is now invalid.

Not very nice to judge it when you haven't even seen it for yourself, right?

In any case this is eerily like the leak!

Go figure.

Vent Kid is not a squadmate.

Bioware is boldly going where Bioware has never gone before.

Whether Ashley or Kaidan actually die or not, it does make it sound like they're taken out of much of the game until later on. If true, this just smacks of laziness and BioWare once again simply sweeping things under the rug and pushing them aside, etc. like they did for many of the consequences going into ME2.

They've basically gone, "instead of providing a lot of deep, varied and rich content for players throughout the game with these two different squadmates making a proper return, let's just wound them really severely and cut them out of most of it so we don't have to deal with it!"

Pathetic! And I'm supposed to believe that ME3 has meaningful consequences from our imports, why?
