I just find the Alliance such a limiting organisation. Sure for the VS, it makes sense but Shepard is beyond that, he is about getting the job done with whatever resources he might have at hand, not going through Alliance orders to get his business done. It's kind of annoying that he even NEEDS to go back to Earth in this regard.
