Even if you don't like the wording, Bioware doesn't force Shepard to like her. And the Illium dialogue was for romanced Liara even more unsatisfying. Liara's explanation is easy to miss and Shepard can't even mention the romance, I think the whole scene was a mess.

Uh...there's nothing in that sentence that expresses a dislike for Liara. Just a dislike of her handing him to Cerberus (that he doesn't even follow through with after her weaksauce explanation) so yeah it is kind of forcing my Shep to like her. Especially since my Shep hugs her on Illium forcibly (and if you don't have DLC it's unavoidable because you need Samara or Thane for the CS mission to trigger).  (thankfully the devs got some insight to the fact that everyone doesn't like Liara and made it optional in LOTSB).

The scene is pretty bad on quite a few ends. However I say it's much worse for a Shep that doesn't like Liara. At least romancers do get some sort of explanation/consistency (even more so with LOTSB) my Shep meanwhile gets a personality transplant. =]

And how is she different from the other squadmates? I think Shep can call Mordin heartless or something, but I can't remember any options to express dislike for Garrus, Jacob, Joker, Tali, Wrex or some other characters.

Jacob has plenty of chances just talk to him renegade style. Garrus has the same issue but since he's killable it can be rectified one way or another. Joker doesn't annoy me but thankfully the ME3 script has his friendship no longer being forced plus Joker never has to be talked to in a friendly manner outside his intro (for some boggling reason), Tali and Wrex can also be killed (that and you can lose Tali's loyalty rather easily).

If Liara's killable in ME3 I'll have no qualms with a forced friendship. That problem will take care of itself.

I don't have to hug Tali. I can also be extremely mean to her by giving her friend over to Cerberus and ****ing up her entire loyalty mission. I can tell Joker I should have thrown him out of the airlock. I can tell the rest that their missions are nowhere on the to-do list, and then I can **** them up.  I can't touch princess Liara, and it's like Harbinger assumes direct control of Shepard's dick every time I go see her.

You can kill most of those (two of those especially you can be a **** to in ME3). You have a point with Joker though.

Personally the only canon friendship I dislike is Admiral Hackett. No real reason, I just don't like him. Something about him just rubs me the wrong way, I guess.

It might be that whole HEY SHEPARD YOU SHOULD PUT YOUR VERY IMPORTANT MISSION ON HOLD AND GO DO THIS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS THING FOR ME thing he does.

I think Hackett's a boss anyway, though.

If you kill them both, the feelings will cancel one another out.

I wish Harby was assuming direct control of my Shep's d***. 50K+ years of experience probably makes Harby an epic lay.

Psh. Harby was totally getting some. What do you think the Rachni Wars were? :P

Poor Harby was a little too rough.

Yes, you can lose Tali's loyalty rather easily, but not because Shepard dislikes her. If you hand over the evidence, Shepard has two options to respond:

- it was the right call
- He (her father) would have wanted this

Shepard doesn't hand over the evidence because he hates Tali. You really cannot express any dislike for your squadmates (Mordin and Miranda are the exceptions).

Check my post. Even if what you said was true, you could still RP like you disliked them. Sadly, it's not doable with Liara, what with forcibly hugging her and all.

ME3 -
Shepard: "Show me yours, tough guy, I bet mine's bigger."

Must have:
Garrus, Tali, Mordin, Wrex, Kasumi, Jacob, Jack, (Thane, but he would have died from his disease)

Dont want to lose:
Tali-or-Kasumi. one can die just not both. need a gf.
Garrus-or-Jacob-or-Wrex. one can die, just not all 3. need a bro. rip Thane.
Mordin. he's just too cool/funny lol.

I'm letting them die in ME2:
Miranda, Grunt, Zaeed, Legion.
(my bro Thane too, best if he dies a hero during the mission, than from his disease!)

i let Ashley die instead of Kaidan in ME1.
it was a no-brainer, i mean....
ashley: racist, bad squad leader, just another soldier.
kaidan: cool dude, dramatic past, biotic, technician, bomb expert, co-pilot, soldier.

And he can side with Legion over her. That and he could simply turn down her loyalty mission in the first place.

Or even better not recruit her to begin with.

That and if all else fails he can have her killed during the SM after ignoring her the entire game outside of her recruitment chat.

Pretty sure Shep can be a hardass towards Grunt he can leave Zaeed to burn to death, tell Jack to "just do your job." after he sides with Miranda during the confrontation, and others I've forgotten.

He can also treat EDI as a thing, not crew, be an a**hole to Miranda right from the start and keep expressing distrust towards Legion "I'll shoot it myself", etc.

And I don't understand how this is different with Liara. Yes, you can ignore Tali (you can ignore Liara, too) and you can turn down her loyalty mission. You can also turn down Liara's missions. Nobody forces you to help her.

Yes - Tali can die, but not because Shepard hates her. You simply made a mistake during the suicide mission. Shepard caressed his teammate's coffin and looks sad, he doesn't throw a party because Tali is finally dead

No. Evil Shepard who hates Tali is sad because s/he was not the one who killed her OR s/he is sad because s/he did not get to watch her die.

No no you can't. I *have* to go to Illium or I can't complete the game. I *have* to hug Liara or I can't complete the game. (well at least I used to until I got some DLC. Everyone can not afford DLC. I should not have to PAY for my Shep not to act laughably OOC.)

I do not have to do that with Tali.

Nah Shep was only sad because he/she didn't get to do it him/herself or because he/she thinks it was a bad way to go. Headcanon.

You actually don't have to go to Illium. You're skipping a lot of content if you miss it though, so I see your point.
