I would cry big, watery man tears if my little Krogan buddy Grunt bites the bullet.

And I don't understand how this is different with Liara. Yes, you can ignore Tali (you can ignore Liara, too) and you can turn down her loyalty mission. You can also turn down Liara's missions. Nobody forces you to help her.

Yes - Tali can die, but not because Shepard hates her. You simply made a mistake during the suicide mission. Shepard caressed his teammate's coffin and looks sad, he doesn't throw a party because Tali is finally dead

Again, you are wrong and again you are ignoring my points. Nevermind, then.

You actually don't have to go to Illium. You're skipping a lot of content if you miss it though, so I see your point.

Actually yes you do if you don't have DLC. You need at least 8 people for the CS mission to trigger. The only way to get 8 people (without DLC) is to recruit either Samara or Thane. both of whom you have to talk to Liara to get.

Shep needs 8 people because of SM sacrifices.

No upgrades = 3 deaths bumping that down to 5. You can then lose the tech bringing that down to 4. At the BB you split 2 and two. You can lose thatone person as well as someone with Shep if their barrier is weak (wrong biotic specialist) and another person dies if they're not a good FTL leaving Shep with 2 people necessary to go fight the HR with him and one left behind to HTL.

Does Legion not count towards the 8?

He can't count towards the 8. You don't get him until *after* the CS mission triggers.

Oh, for some reason I read CS as "crew abduction". Now I feel silly.
