Once my squadmates all die then yes. Though way back when I was advocating for the ability to choose if you took one squadmate with you or three so players who think their routine mission is safe can opt to take one person if it turns out they're wrong they're now stuck with themselves and the one the bought fighting a horde of bad guys would be fun to go a Alamo.

Do they have good weapons and evolved powers? My squaddies seldom ever get knocked out, and they generally kick some serious booty.

Miranda does that to me a lot lol. I just shove her over and she goes to the next closest thing to hide behind. Are you playing on Insanity? My squaddies die a bit more on higher difficulty...

Well, supposedly the squad AI has been improved for ME3. I think most of us are crossing our fingers and hoping it's true. :)

one thing I've noticed is that squadmates seem to prefer a default weapon... which is not necessarily the best weapon for them to use. and they keep switching back to it with each new mission and sometimes even after loading up a mid mission save.

for example - Garrus used to die on me so much, despite being extremely useful in ME1. finally I figured out why he was acting so damn suicidal. assault rifle instead of sniper. as soon as I started to make sure that he was using a sniper rifle, all of a sudden, he's useful again and doesn't die as easily.

just as an example

I thought that Arrival was neat because you had no squad. It made you reconsider how you spec'd your Shepard.

I take Grunt and Garrus or Wrex and Garrus....they almost never die. I've never tried solo

Yes, I would love to go alone on the missions.

Yea just don't select team members I believe it's possible. At least in ME1 it was. I would sometimes run only Garrus

Now I'm confused. Is it Samuel L. Shakespeare or William Jackson?
Just kidding.
Anyways, no, the only thing that annoyed sometimes, when I was aiming down the rifle, lining up the perfect headshot, then BAM, Grunt runs in the screen, covering my field of vision.
