I do realize there is a Thane thread already. This is not technically a thread to praise Thane.
This is a thread to draw devs and players attention to Thane.

You can go on and lock it, but
just because we Thane fans and appreciators are not making billions of threads and spamming devs on twitter and everywhere doesnt mean we don't love him

This is not a useless thread, this is a thread for people who want to protect the role of their favorite characters in ME3 because it seems to me like the only people who are going to be satisfied with ME3 characters and conclusions to romances are fans of Garrus, Tali and Liara because they have the largest fanbases.

I personally feel dissapointed that eople who romanced Garrus, Tali, Liara or VS are going to have their LI's in their team. That's a lot more room and time for development  I don't think romanceable characters outside of the team are going to get the same amount of attention. This is not fair. In addition, instead on focusing on the characters and conclusions on their stories you keep adding new characters and new LI's and filling the squad up with them because people wanted homosexual and bi romances.

This is not a thread to bash characters who are LI's and on the team either.
I don't mean to offend people who wanted homosexual romances in ME3 as well
Please understand.

It's not pointless. Read the second part of my post and you will notice that it's not a thread strictly about Thane. It's about not being satisfied what is being done about romances with characters outside of the team, and these characters include Thane.

There are threads being made about other characters, and attention is being drawn to them because they are brought up all the time.

My point is - read the second part of my first post here, with understanding.

It is pointless because this thread is way too late. You're not going to change anything in the game now; they're certainly not going to delay the game because one fan is dissatisfied with their favorite character not getting enough screen time. Plenty of other characters are also not getting a central role this time around, what makes your favorite character more special than others?

Thane is a jerk

So...my Shepherd wanted to make the Normandy a little more romantic. That means clearing out the crew, the squad, and so on. The plan leaves just Shepherd, Thane, and-- er, well Joker and EDI are still there, but they're busy flirting awkwardly so it's not too troublesome.

Step 1: Win Thane's trust by helping him with his son. [SUCCESS]
Step 2: "I want you, Thane." [SUCCESS]
Step 3: Wait for Collectors to clear out the crew. [SUCCESS]
Step 4: Head to Omega4. Use Garrus as specialist, Mordin as team leader, Jacob as walking biotic shield. Don't send anyone back with the crew when they are found. Lots of people die. [SUCCESS]
Step 5: So close! Take Thane and Jacob to the final battle, leave Miranda behind to fend off 100+ Collectors by herself. [SUCCESS]
Step 6: Jacob becomes pancake. Miranda becomes swiss cheese. Thane: alive! [GREAT SUCCESS]
Step 7: Run back to the ship with Thane. He leaps safely onto the Normandy's deck. Joker hangs around pretending he's a gangster. [SUCCESS]

And then...Shepherd notices something. After Thane jumped onto the deck he scrambled immediately inside. Didn't care that Shepherd wasn't on the boat yet. Didn't even look back as "siha" plummeted 40 stories to her doom because there was no one to pull her up.

Shepherd died horribly for two reasons:
1) Not enough pull-up exercises.
2) THANE IS A JERK.

I am not trying to imply that Thane is more important to the story line than Samara or Grunt (they are even more overlooked) or anyone else really.
And I do know that I am not going to change anything but rather I hope I am wrong in thinking that romanceable characters that are not in the crew (they are the point of this thread - Jacob, Thane, Miranda, Jack) are not treated like Wrex was in ME2.

I think I am getting misunderstood because I called this thread 'Thane is epic'
but it's true.
the fact that he's a jerk is also epic.

While this thread is pointless and will no doubt be locked, I agree with the overall sentiment. Thane is a fascinating, unique character and I love him to death. I love his voice and hearing about his religion. I could listen to him talk about fake religions in that voice all day. ^_^

Do we actually know how these romances are handled? Have you actual proof as to how it is going to turn out in the game?
Meh... pointless thread being pointless.

Although most people here in this thread think it is pointless I am with slaything - I think it is not.
If your romance partner of ME 2 is not in the squad this means you have not much chance to talk to him and to deepen your relationship like with the love interests that are in your squad - if you are lucky maybe you can meet Thane, Samary, Jack etc. for a short mission - and that's it. I think that is not fair. There should be the option to take your romance partner of ME 2 into your permanent team if you want to. Why first create great characters in ME 2 and make them a love interest just to throw it away in ME 3? I do not get that.

I am hoping that there is a really awesome reason characters like Thane have been on lock down. Characters like Legion and Mordin, I think what we have seen of them is unfortunately the most we will see of them in the game. Unless they have some little role at the very end, like when they have a party after stopping the Reapers or something. Unfortunately, there are one too many of these characters going around and they are adding new ones to boot. Undoubtedly several are going to be cut up bad based on priorities and popularity. Legion and Mordin are popular, but their priority is minimal.

However I think romancable characters like Thane will have more face time going on. Bioware already knows the reaction there was for Liara and the VS, and being this is the last game for Shepard I don't think they would do just a hi and bye scenario. It's sad, but yeah, there is a lot of focus on romance.

I know how they were going to be handled since I had a look at the leaked files at least as far as the romances are concerned. If anything changed, I don't know. I do hope so.

I think maybe they are overlooked because they are connected to some important main quests so the devs don't want to spoil anything for us, so we don't know anything about the characters...
but also that's what I worry about, that we get to meet them for 2 minutes while doing said quests.

I think they are playing it safe... come on we have nothing to complain about! these characters are so tightly connected to the plot, and important!!!! ...right.
Like it matters if you have Wrex or Wreav with you.

This thread is indeed worthy of being a topic, but the title is not properly descriptive. You'd get more posts here if it was, I would think.

We don't know how the script handles Thane, but honestly, this isn't unique to him - you could claim it about any ME2 squaddie.

Of all of them, I'd say Taylor got shafted up the arse the farthest.

Quite honestly. Thane looked great on paper. But in real gameplay, there was something very.. wrong about him. His flashbacks being not the least of it.

Yes I know that, that's why this thread does not refer just to Thane.
I don't want to put spoilers into the thread, but Jacob being overlooked like that is because he is the least liked character
so I suppose BioWare figured it would be alright if they pretend he never happened.

I disagree. Although we don't get our ME2 love interests on the Normandy with us, they do get their own arcs and do have romance dialogue. In fact, its almost all romance dialogue in some form rather than pointless convos you have with LI's on the Normandy. I find it makes them just as meaningful as the other romances.
