I disagree. Although we don't get our ME2 love interests on the Normandy with us, they do get their own arcs and do have romance dialogue. In fact, its almost all romance dialogue in some form rather than pointless convos you have with LI's on the Normandy. I find it makes them just as meaningful as the other romances.

Maybe you are right - but nevertheless it would be great to have your beloved partner on the Normandy - just to be able to talk to him/her, when things get worse and Shep needs some comfort.

Would I be wrong for saying that there were some non-squaddies in ME1 AND ME2 that I wished had been LI's?
Is that defeating the purpose of this thread or giving it a new purpose?

No, because it's beating a dead horse.

No, but there is a thread discussing NPC's that you wish had been LI's.

Also, G3rman, I do hope you are right for saying that, but look at it from perspective -
I can understand Tali and Garrus are on the party - they are what connects Shepard to Turians and Quarians, but they are also popular characters with large fanbases which is why they are on the party in reality.

Quarians are not even a Citadel race, Salarians and Drell are though, and we had a Drell and Salarian squadmate.

Tali and Garrus were practically announced as permanent squadmates first to avoid massive flaming on the forums. Devs could at least tell us if other characters are temporary squadmates or silly cameos, most people are fans of characters already announced as perma squad members so their favorite character's presence in the game is 'spoiled' while we don't know a thing.

Seems like it...
So, if you decided Miranda or Jack were romancable, OOPS! They're not important in this game!

Ed Boon comes in and says: "You chose UNWISELY!"

So, after giving you 5 romance options, BW is saying that only 3 were valid and they were ALL from your original crew.

So, unless you romanced either Garrus or Tali, it's NOT HAPPENING in ME3 with a ME2 squadmate, so Jacob, Miranda, Jack, and Thane were all pointless as far as LIs go.

Don't you die on me thread!!!

Well technically 4  options are ' valid ' - VS, Tali, Garrus and Liara of course.
I really do hope people that romanced someone from ME2's crew (well excluding Garrus and Tali) are going to get the same amount of romancing as people who stuck to options listed above but it just doesn't seem like it.

Even if, as someone said before, we get only a few romance dialogues with those squad mates and other dialogues aren't connected to the romance at all, it wouldn't make much sense, and it'd still be more than us, Miri, Thane, Jacob and Jack-mancers get.

It's so not fair it burns my eyes.

I hear ya. I mean, why bother giving us the option if they were just gonna get overlooked in the 3rd game, anyway?

I just heard that Kaidan's voice actor confirmed that he will be a s/s romance in ME3, in one of the interviews.

I am all for s/s romances but this constant fanservice, I just have to argue with.
Why suddenly change a perfectly heterosexual character that didn't show any romantic interest in maleShep ever into a homosexual. What, did he suddenly realise his sexuality? At the age of 30 something?
Come on.

Or maybe maleShep is so hawt he turns all the guys gay.
I'm just waiting for Garrus and Tali to be 'converted' too!
...but less popular characters, like Jack or Thane... nope, it's too much work, they stay hetero.
